Packed with rich insights, the webinar, titled ‘Campus to Corporate – How to grow on LinkedIn’, featured Deepak Pandey – Area Sales Manager at Siemens and an alumnus of IFMR GSB, imparting his knowledge on the importance of networking and what it takes to build a strong LinkedIn profile. With around 60 students in attendance, the session also featured IndianMaze Advisory founder and CEO Dinesh Jain participating, interacting and engaging with the students.

On the occasion of Women’s Entrepreneurship Day (November 19), LEAD at Krea University and IWWAGE hosted a Twitter chat to explore strategies for enhancing women’s participation in entrepreneurial activity and strengthening enterprise resilience. The chat explored strategies for addressing restrictive social norms that influence women’s participation in aspirations for entrepreneurship, improving skilling programs, and building business acumen, enabling meaningful access to technology and markets. Participants also discussed strategies for collecting better-disaggregated data and integrating a gender lens in entrepreneurship development programs and policies. Read the highlights in this blog.

Krea University inks partnership with University of Bristol – one of the world’s top ranked institutions
Krea University has stepped into a significant partnership with the University of Bristol, consistently ranked in the world’s top 100 and UK’s top ten universities. The partnership will explore deeper collaboration in the area of Sciences and Humanities at student, faculty and research level. It also includes the beginning of a 3+1 progression partnership for students at Krea, in flagship programmes offered by University of Bristol which includes MSc in Environmental Policy and Management, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Public Policy, Economics, Economics and Finance, Economics, Finance and Management, Management (International Business) and Business Analytics. The University of Bristol is home to the best university business incubator in the world and is in the top 5 for research. The University is also alma mater to 13 Nobel Laureates including current Chancellor, Sir Paul Nurse. The MoU was inked in an e-signing ceremony chaired by Dr Erik Lithander, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Global Engagement), University of Bristol and Dr Sunder Ramaswamy, Vice-Chancellor of Krea University. During the ceremony, Dr Erik Lithander added, “We are very proud to be signing a Memorandum of Understanding with Krea University today and are excited to develop links with such an innovative, forward-thinking institution. It symbolises the start of an important partnership, which will undoubtedly benefit the student and academic communities on both sides.” The event included a dialogue on potential collaborations, respective aims of both institutions for the partnership and identification of ways in which links could be strengthened. 

The event had distinguished attendees from both partner institutions. From the University of Bristol, Dr Erik Lithander, Pro Vice Chancellor (Global Engagement), Dr Winnie Wang, School International Director, Geographical Sciences, Lorna Cuckow, Deputy Director International and Head of International Partnerships & Relations, Aditya Malkani, Partnerships Consultant (India) and Ellie Cook, International Events Manager attended the event.

In a bid to encourage and support young faculty, staff and students, the management at Krea is delighted to introduce a Research Fellowship for the academic year of 2020-2021. These fellowships are available on a competitive basis across SIAS and IFMR GSB for anyone at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, Senior Assistant Professor and Senior / Assistant / Associate Professor of Practice, staff, and students. Vikram Janakiraman, who has been a part of Boston Consulting Group for nearly 10 years, shared powerful insights from his vast journey as a senior practitioner in the management consulting field. From explaining in detail about how management consulting businesses keep up with the times to addressing all the strategic challenges faced by businesses of today, Vikram Janakiraman – Managing Director and Partner at Boston Consulting Group (India) – engaged the students at Krea in a hearty interaction. Given his experience working with automotive and mobility clients in India, he narrated his experience on how one can not only address a problem but also re-think solutions and re-imagine the manner in which they deliver them, while also sharing what the future holds.

In a highly engaging session, Aumkar Gholap – Head of Technology Solutions for Credit Risk, Treasury (ALM), Liquidity Management and Regulatory Reporting India – interacted with the students at IFMR GSB, Krea University, shedding light on various aspects of ‘Open Banking’. Drawing from his rich experience in the financial sector, he explained how the integration of banking processes and technology have helped secure data. He also his shared insights on the use of open APIs that enable third-party developers to build applications around financial institutions and what it takes to create a long-term sustainable model for the service industry.

Krea University Early Action application round for UG admissions closes on 20 November 2020

Krea University opened its Early Action round to Undergraduate admissions on 19 October 2020 and this round closes on 20 November 2020. The Early Action Round is the shortest application window in the admissions cycle, and offers significant benefits to applicants who like to plan early.

Applying in the Early Action round provides multiple benefits to the aspirants. These include receiving a decision on the application by the end of the year, much before the board exams. It also is highly recommended for applicants seeking Financial Assistance, as this round puts them in a better position to avail aid.

Speaking about the benefits of this round, Director-Admissions, Padmini Sankaran shares, “The Early Action Round has been designed to help aspirants gain a head start with applications. It provides them with ample exam-free time to focus on their Krea application form and its requirements which gives them an opportunity to showcase their potential beyond academic achievements. The round ensures that they have the advantage of choice without being pushed against deadlines.’’

SIAS offers three-year BA (Honours) and BSc (Honours) degrees, with an option to do an additional year of Advanced Studies. It is a fully residential programme and the students embark on their learning journey nestled in a campus, which is a rich combination of green spaces and urban culture, located in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh, 55 kms from Chennai.

The School of Informatics and Computing at IUPUI (Indiana University Purdue University Indiana) is one of Indiana, USA’s premier, high-ranked urban public research universities and Computer Science institutes, known for its numerous educational opportunities and innovative information system designs. As part of the ongoing partnership between IUPUI and Krea University, students of SIAS participated in an information session led by the following senior faculty members at IUPUI: Mathew Palakal, Senior Executive Associate Dean and Professor of Informatics; Josette Jones, Director of Health Informatics and Associate Professor; Saptarshi Purkayastha, Director of Undergraduate Education and Research – Department of BioHealth Informatics and Assistant Professor of Data Science, Health Informatics; and Sarath Chandra Janga, Associate Professor of Bioinformatics, Data Science, Interim Chair – Department of BioHealth Informatics, and Interim Program Director of Bioinformatics and Biomedical Informatics Program.
