Krea University embarks on an ambitious faculty hiring plan for 2021-22
|
The School of Interwoven Arts and Sciences (SIAS) at Krea University has embarked on an ambitious program of faculty hiring for 2021-22. As a result of an extensive search, a diverse pool of over 40 new hires in full time and visiting positions are slated to join the SIAS faculty cohort in the sciences, social sciences, humanities, and the arts. They are outstanding teachers and scholars/practitioners hailing from world-renowned institutions in Europe, the United States, and Asia (including India) in the disciplines of Economics, Psychology, Environmental Studies, Computer Science, Biological Sciences, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Social Studies, Politics, Literature and the Arts.

In an effort to encourage Krea University's talented faculty in their research interests and academic endeavours, Chennai-based manufacturing company Sundram Fasteners Limited (SFL) have come on board to support 4 faculty positions in Science and Business. The proud recipients of this grant are- Prof Bharath Sundaram for Sundram Fasteners Assistant Professor of Environmental Studies; Prof Rishi Vyas for Sundram Fasteners Assistant Professor of Mathematics; Prof R Sathyanarayanan for Sundram Fasteners Associate Professor of Marketing; and Prof Vijaya Subramanian for Sundram Fasteners Associate Professor of Operations Management.

Acclaimed author and serial entrepreneur Dr Kaustubh Dhargalkar PhD recently delivered a 2-day workshop on product design and design thinking for Catalyst Atal Incubation Center's (AIC) handicrafts cohort. Dr Dhargalkar is an entrepreneur-turned-academic, innovation evangelist and startup mentor. He has been recognised as the top 7 global innovators at the Smart City Expo World Congress, Barcelona 2015, for his paper titled ‘A collaborative business model for reducing the REAL carbon footprint of electric vehicles'.

Asia Society India Centre in partnership with Krea University recently hosted a global discussion on UNESCO's Global Citizenship Education (GCED), its merits and ways for its efficient incorporation in public education systems across the world. The childcare crisis brought on by the pandemic has reached a “tipping point” that, if passed, could set back women’s economic progress toward parity by decades, a new global report warns. The report titled 'Evidence Review of the Global Childcare Crisis and the Road for Post-Covid-19 Recovery and Resilience' is full of insights shared by international researchers, economists and policy consultants including IWWAGE's Soumya Kapoor Mehta, Kanika Jha Kingra, and Neelanjana Gupta. Catalyst AIC Startup School launches first cohort

Catalyst AIC has now launched its next program for startups - the ‘Catalyst AIC Startup School’. As part of its first cohort, the startup school program has selected 12 startups which range across Ed-tech, Auto-tech, AI, Virtual Reality among others. The program will focus on nurturing early-stage, prototype-ready startups across various technology domains.

'Modern Mushaira' is a new podcast series presented by Krea students studying Arts and History, instructed by Prof Swarnamalya Ganesh - Assistant Professor of Practice, Literature and Arts. Researched and scripted by the students, the series looks at significant moments in Deccani History, deep-dives into various art forms, and attempts to cull the history of the so-called sub-cultures that have escaped the pages of history. Organised by The Centre for Citizenship, Civil Society, Rule of Law at the University of Aberdeen, the conference features speakers, scholars and researchers from all over the world, sharing their work on "difference" as a political category.
