LEAD at Krea University launches new website

LEAD at Krea University launched its much-awaited new website on 22nd April 2021. It is part of LEAD’s transition to a new visual identity, in line with its integration with Krea University. Supporting improved navigation, the new website is faster, smoother and more user-friendly. Featuring an extensive library of publications, projects and resources, the website showcases fifteen years of work done by LEAD in furthering action-oriented research in India. In this piece, Executive Director Sharon Buteau and Associate Director Preethi Rao sum up the thought process behind the visual aesthetic and messaging of the website, as well as highlight new features, and what it offers visitors. Impact Film Competition 2021's winner announced!

We are excited to announce that Sakshi Singh, a student from DICE VFS School of Entertainment Arts, has emerged as the winner of 'Impact Film Competition 2021'. The entries were assessed by our jury comprising filmmaker Akarsh Khurana, psychiatrist and mental health advocate Dr R Padmavati, academic associate and senior research fellow Dr Premila Webster, and Krea professor and author Prayaag Akbar. Sakshi has won a cash prize of Rs 1 lac towards the creation of her short film, along with mentorship support by The Misfits Co. 'Impact Film Competition' is an initiative led by LEAD at Krea University in collaboration with the India-Oxford (IndOx) initiative at Oxford University.

List of medal winners and Dean’s Merit List awardees from the MBA cohort of 2020 announced

We are delighted to share the list of medal winners and awardees of the Dean’s Merit List at IFMR Graduate School of Business (IFMR GSB), Krea University for the MBA cohort of 2020. The medals are awarded to students based on their academic performance, as well as extracurricular activities. Students who are ranked in the top 5% in their respective cohort on the basis of their academic performance (CGPA) at the end of the second year are included in the Dean's Merit List. National Rural Livelihoods Mission and IWWAGE launch 'Gender Samvaad'
As part of the Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav launched by the Prime Minister of India, the Ministry of Rural Development’s Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM) and IWWAGE jointly launched 'Gender Samvaad' -- a unique attempt to generate awareness on NRLM’s gender interventions. The online launch event brought together a panel of experts, including Shri Nagendra Nath Sinha, Secretary, Ministry of Rural Development; Smt. Alka Upadhyaya, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Rural Development; and Joint Secretary, NRLM, Smt. Nita Kejrewal. Community resource persons, who are women SHG members from various states, were also part of the event.

'The Indian Express' features impactful study on migrants by Yale Economic Growth Center and the Inclusion Economics India Centre

The Indian Express published an impactful study on migrants in India and their income since March 2020 as their cover story in April. The study was conducted by researchers from Yale Economic Growth Center at Yale University and the Inclusion Economics India Centre at Krea University (formerly EPoD India at IFMR). The study highlights how migrants in India, more than a year later, are yet to recover economically and continue to remain vulnerable. Read the article here.

Research paper by IFMR GSB professors to be presented at the 37th International Conference of the French Finance Association

Dr Praveen Bhagawan, Assistant Professor of Finance – IFMR Graduate School of Business at Krea University, and Dr Jyoti Prasad Mukhopadhyay, Associate Professor of Economics – IFMR Graduate School of Business at Krea University, have together worked on an impactful research paper titled “Does Mandatory Expenditure on CSR Affect Firm Value? Empirical Evidence from Indian Firms”. The paper has been accepted for presentation at the 37th International Conference of the French Finance Association. The selected papers at the conference will be published in a special issue of Journal of Banking & Finance – currently ranked A in the ABDC list of journals 2019.
