Job Description:

Krea University is launching an undergraduate programme in Biological Sciences requiring a laboratory equipped primarily to teach laboratory-based components of the curriculum. The laboratory Technician will play an essential role in shaping the laboratory for teaching, undergraduate research in biological and environmental science. The selected candidate will be responsible for all activities for the timely, safe and efficient management of setting-up, maintenance, teaching and undergraduate research related to the Biology Laboratory at Krea University. Key duties of the position include:

  1. Reporting to the Domain Head and working closely with designated faculty to fulfil all tasks related to the job.
  2. Maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the laboratory space and equipment.
  3. Regularly creating, maintaining and updating documentation pertaining to the laboratory, including MSDS documents, laboratory protocols, safety protocols, inventory, accounting, and procurement.
  4. Working with designated faculty to develop and implement practicals, including field-based practicals.
  5. Planning and preparing for laboratory practicals, including procuring equipment, supplies and specimens, maintaining them and laying them out before the practical class.
  6. Teaching practicals including preparing worksheets, providing instruction, helping students, holding office hours, managing make-ups, and grading under the guidance of faculty instructors.
  7. Working with suppliers, marketers and departments within the university for handling procedures related to procurement, maintenance, expenses, and replacements.
  8. Providing training for safe and proper use of equipment and materials housed in the laboratory.
  9. Managing employees hired for the laboratory, including laboratory technicians and assistant technician.
  10. Providing support and training and ensuring fair use by undergraduate students using the space for research.
  11. Provide support for all additional tasks related to the setting-up and running of the laboratory that may arise from time to time.

Skills Required

  1. Time-management skills, teaching skills, skills for handling laboratory equipment, technology and material standard to undergraduate biology laboratories
  2. Documentation skills and skills to teach practicals.
  3. Should be willing to reside full-time on the university’s campus in Sri City, AP.

Job Description:

  1. The laboratory instructor will handle the regular and one-time purchases for the laboratory, and interface with the manufacturers and account department, in consultation with the faculty in the Department.

  3. coordinating with the faculty to run practical classes, interfacing with students and trouble-shooting the experiments for them instructing students about the relevant theory and laboratory safety ‘
