Job Responsibilities :

  1. Perform checking-in, checking-out and circulation of library materials.
  2. Perform patron registration and transaction activities.
  3. Process new books, maintain circulation records and make reserves on requested books.
  4. Manage library data and reports utilizing library software systems.
  5. Maintain library materials including bibliographic and other library files.
  6. Train and supervise library clerks and assistants in their job duties.

Research Openings

Position : Announcement Research Associate, Krea University

About the Project :

The Consortium of Humanities Centers and Institutes (CHCI), on behalf of the International Council of Philosophy and the Human Sciences (CIPSH) and in collaboration with UNESCO, and supported by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, is undertaking a World Humanities Report (WHR). The WHR, is designed to increase understanding of and reflection on the contributions of the humanities to knowledge and society across the globe. The report will show where and how the humanities are practiced and make recommendations for the humanities in the 21st Century, with a medium-term concentration on the next five-to-ten years. The South Asia region research group will be led by a Regional Research Lead from Krea University. Krea is a liberal arts and sciences university located in Sri City, north of Chennai. Krea University has a unique ‘interwoven learning’ approach that weaves creativity and action, arts and sciences, theory and practice, to make students ready to deal with challenges and opportunities of the 21st century.

About the Position :

The Research Associate, based at Krea University, will work directly with the Regional Research Lead for a global project on World Humanities Report coordinated by CHCI (Consortium of Humanities Centers and Institutes), located at University of Wisconsin-Madison. Responsibilities include coordination of a research team, liaising with scholars in the region, planning and executing brainstorming and review meetings, preparing presentations for academic and other audiences, preparing original research support and literature reviews, analyzing, expanding, and maintaining databases of thematic research topics and representing the project in forums and with groups as needed in the field. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong conceptual ability; excellent writing skills; the ability to work productively under time pressure; the capacity to work well independently; and the ability to interact successfully with senior scholars and practitioners. The position will involve working with various online platforms, collecting and assembling material from disparate sources and fields of the humanities.

  • This is a full-time term appointment starting as soon as possible for a period of 12 months.
  • The selected candidate should be willing to work for the full 12-month period with some flexibility until the report is delivered.
  • The position will be located at Krea University. Travel will be involved, but is likely to be moderate.
  • Salary commensurate with qualifications and housing will be provided at Krea University.

Basic Qualifications :

A minimum of a Master’s degree in a relevant social science/humanities discipline along with 3+ years of significant relevant work experience. Evidence of academic excellence and of independent research experience. Strong skills related to the Microsoft Office Suite and webbased research are expected.
