Sri City, 2 September, 2019: Six students from School of Interwoven Arts and Sciences (SIAS) at Krea University recently visited the Irugulam village school near Sri City, as part of the community outreach program. Describing the visit as a very humbling, satisfying and valuable experience, the students expressed their desire to participate in more such outreach programs in the future.
Spending time with the rural children and witnessing their enthusiasm and openness to learning was not only an uplifting experience for the SIAS students, but also a way of giving back. They motivated the rural students by sharing their experiences and urged them to ‘think big’.
At the village school, the SIAS students participated in the classroom experience by teaching them computers, observational moral learning and also conducted games. They also visited the local Read India centre and spent time at the tailoring institute, computer lab and library. It is heartening to note that many more SIAS students have volunteered to help the rural students with their studies and train them in sports and computers in the future.
