Sathyanarayanan has close to two decades of Industry and academia experience in Organizations like BIM, CII, CBS and also in Global European Union projects like ECCP – across logistics and FMCG marketing.

Before joining IFMR, Sathya served as the Head of Education Initiatives in the Confederation of Indian Industry and was actively involved in setting up an Education Practice within CII to promote enhanced industry institute interaction. He was also involved in the conceptual foundation for a government backed Incubator in Chennai. Sathya has extensive experience in teaching Marketing and in corporate training through MDPs and consulting assignments in India and abroad – especially Finland, Singapore, and Sri Lanka. He has trained executives from various companies like Toshiba, FLEX, CEAT, Escorts, GATI, BHEL, Sutherland, Indian Railways, India Post, LIC etc. He was also running a consulting practice under the brand Purple Ring.

An invited Member of CII Southern Region Core Group on higher education policy and the member of Expert Committee- Core Group of Indo-Japan Chamber of Commerce, Sathya is also a Gold medalist in marketing and a University Grants Commission NET-JRF holder. A winner in London Business School’s Case development Initiative in 2009,

Current Research Interests

Sathya’s research interests are in the areas of culture and brand management. He is also passionate about design thinking, history, business history and higher education policy.
