In some other news, Professor Chandrasekaran N  has penned an article on the crucial role of Independent Directors in navigating strategy, risk, and investor relations, for Director Today<\/em> magazine from the Institute of Directors (IOD), India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This article reiterates the points he presented in the talk he delivered during the IOD National Convention on ‘The Board’ on 27 April, 2024, at ITC Grand Chola, Chennai.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Independent directors are on the board because of their expertise in the following areas: finance, marketing, technology, operations, and supply chain strategy, as well as their ability to read and interpret the company’s financial report. Further, they are expected to have a few other proficiencies, like an overall understanding of the statutory requirements and the ability to bring perspectives overlooked by the promoters and executive directors. IDs should express the same during board meetings without fear or bias and demonstrate exceptional skills for gathering intelligence on business operations and nuances for being effective on the board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
