Title of course: Introduction to GIS
Teaching term: July 17 – October 7, 2023; 4 hours / week
Tentative description
The aim of this course is to introduce third year undergraduate students to GIS. In this course, they would learnt to analyze spatial data of various kinds, use cartography techniques, and to communicate results in maps. An end term project would be a desirable outcome of the course.
Tentative course contents:
1. Basics of GIS incl. applications to climate change, water, urban studies, etc.
2. Coordinate reference system
3. GIS data formats, design, quality
4. Geospatial and environmental analysis
5. Imagery, Automation, and Applications
6. Project
Candidate profile
PhD degree in geography or any other physical sciences with demonstrable experience with using GIS. Candidates with MSc degrees will be considered but with demonstrable minimum experience of 4-5 years with GIS. Prior teaching experience is strongly preferred.
Remuneration
Remuneration is according to Krea University policy for Visiting Faculty positions.
Location: Krea University, Sri City, AP. Partially online teaching could be considered under exceptional circumstances.
