These institutions have navigated challenges similar to those faced by long-standing universities, from balancing local and global impact to establishing both physical and virtual presence, as well as (re)inventing curricula and instructional approaches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In his talk, Professor Penprase will reflect on his early experiences at Yale-NUS College, discuss key themes from his book on new \u201cstartup universities,\u201d and explore how leadership and academic culture converge to create innovative curricula and enhance student learning. These &#8220;startup&#8217; universities offer valuable lessons that can help institutions of all kinds rethink how they operate and serve both students and society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ABOUT THE SPEAKER<br>Professor Bryan Penprase is a Professor of Astronomy and Vice President for External Academic Relations and Sponsored Research at Soka University of America. He holds a BS in Physics and an MS in Applied Physics from Stanford University (\u201885) and a PhD in Astronomy and Astrophysics from the University of Chicago (\u201892).
