role=\"tabpanel\" aria-labelledby=\"elementor-tab-title-7791\" tabindex=\"0\" hidden=\"false\"><p>Dr Shimna Kannoth\u2019s research trajectory has been guided by a keen interest in understanding the complex coupling between terrestrial and space environments. She earned her PhD in Physical Sciences from the Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR) at the CSIR Fourth Paradigm Institute (CSIR-4PI), Bangalore, where she specialized in seismo-ionospheric coupling and storm-induced impacts on the ionosphere. This research allowed Dr Shimna to investigate how disturbances originating in the lithosphere and geomagnetic storms influence the ionosphere, employing a multidisciplinary approach grounded in geophysics, space science, and remote sensing.<\/p><p>Building on this foundation, Dr Shimna conducted postdoctoral research at the Space Physics Laboratory, Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), Trivandrum, where she expanded her focus to explore the effects of extreme weather events and space weather phenomena on ionospheric dynamics. Using high-resolution GPS datasets, far-ultraviolet observations from NASA\u2019s GOLD mission, and ionosonde data, she analyzed ionospheric responses to tropical cyclones and geomagnetic storms.
