Dr Dhanya Radhakrishnan
Scientific Officer (Physical Sciences)
PhD, Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), Bengaluru.
Dr. Dhanya Radhakrishnan is an experimental physicist specializing in the study of acoustic and optical phonons using Brillouin and Raman spectroscopy. She completed her Ph.D. at the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), Bengaluru. Following her doctoral studies, she held postdoctoral research positions at the University of California, Davis, USA, and the Laboratoire des Procédés et Matériaux, Paris, France. She subsequently served as a Visiting Scientist at the Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR), India, before joining Krea University.
Dhanya’s research focuses on investigating the mechanical and vibrational properties of materials using Brillouin spectroscopy. Her interests span a broad range of materials, including biomaterials and low-dimensional materials, with a particular emphasis on understanding their elastic, vibrational, and thermal transport properties. She is also interested in phononics in low-dimensional systems, exploring phonon propagation, phonon interactions, and thermal conductivity in these materials.
Research interest
- Mechanical properties of materials using Brillouin spectroscopy
- Phononics in low-dimensional materials
