Dr U K Shamsudheen is a Visiting Assistant Professor at the Centre for Writing and Pedagogy, Krea University. He holds a PhD from the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. His doctoral dissertation, Shaping Time, Telling Stories: Parabolic Narratives in O. V. Vijayan, T. V. Kochubava, and Sree Narayana Guru (2025), examines the use of parabolic forms across Malayalam literature and thought, with a focus on the fiction of O. V. Vijayan and T. V. Kochubava and selected conversations of the saint-reformer Sree Narayana Guru. His research explores questions of narrative, temporality, genre, and the relationship between literary forms and historical contexts.
He was a Fulbright-Nehru Doctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Asian Studies at the University of Texas at Austin (2019–2020). Before joining Krea University, he worked as a Research Associate at IIT Bombay. Outside academia, Shamsudheen writes poetry and screenplays in Malayalam. He has been involved in film-society activities for over a decade through the Dialogue Film Society, Ottapalam, where his work has included organising annual film festivals, weekly film screenings, and occasional workshops on filmmaking.
