About the Talk

My debut book, Trauma Nation, is the first holistic book on trauma written in the Indian context. Mental health without a cultural context is only a half-told story. We are one-sixth of humanity – and yet, for too long, we have tried to understand our inner lives through a borrowed Western lens. This book is my sincere attempt to finally tell our own story. Here I weave stories with science and explain that trauma is not what happens to us. It is what happens within us.

For some initial readers, it worked as psychoeducation, building self-awareness. For others, it helped them hear what their mind and body had long been carrying in silence. In less than two weeks since its release, Trauma Nation has become a bestseller in the Clinical Psychology category on Amazon India – which tells me this conversation was waiting to happen.
