Rohit Walthare is a Research Associate at Inclusion Economics India Centre at IFMR. He earned his Master’s in Economics from Vanderbilt University, where he focused on development economics, inequality, and education. This academic foundation led him into applied research and policy work with organizations such as the ASER Research Centre, the Justice Advisory Council, and the Tennessee Commission on Children and Youth. These roles have allowed him to turn data and research into insights that support better policies, particularly in education and social inclusion for low- and middle-income communities. What keeps him passionate about this field is seeing how rigorous research can directly inform policy decisions and create meaningful change in people’s lives. He found his strength lies in bridging the gap between complex analysis and practical solutions, and this continues to drive my commitment to evidence-based approaches. He is passionate about connecting research with real-world impact and sees his career evolving at the intersection of policy, innovation, and social development. Looking ahead, he hopes to keep building the skills and perspective needed to drive equity through thoughtful, data-driven solutions. Outside of work, he loves traveling to new places, reading non-fiction, and playing billiards. These interests help him stay curious, relaxed, and think a little more strategically in everything I do.
