Krea Sports Tournament 2026: Celebrating Sport, Community and Togetherness

The Krea Sports Tournament – Trimester 1 brought together faculty, staff, and PhD scholars in a vibrant celebration of sport, camaraderie, and community. Across the trimester, participants competed in five games—Frisbee, Table Tennis, Foosball, Chess, and Carrom—creating opportunities to compete, collaborate, and connect beyond their regular academic and professional roles.

The Frisbee tournament featured 39 participants, divided into three teams of 13 players each. The teams were:

Team Supernova – Captain: Shristi Simran Kisku

Team Fire Whirl – Captain: Sandhya Katta

Team Vanguards – Captain: Anesha Shende

The tournament followed a double round-robin format, with teams competing against each other twice. Team Supernova emerged as the champions, setting the tone for an exciting sports trimester.

The Table Tennis tournament brought together 19 participants, divided into three teams of 6–7 players each:

Tomahawk Devils – Captain: Tanmoy Chakrabarty

Krea Knight Riders – Captain: Debankur Saha

Table Titans – Captain: Sourav Das

Team Tomahawk Devils emerged as the winners.

The Foosball tournament saw 8 teams, with 16 players participating in pairs. The tournament produced closely contested matches, with:

Winners: Surjeet Patel and Parnika Singh
Runners-up: Arjun Singh and Trisha Sinha

Chess
The Chess tournament featured 13 participants competing through league and knockout stages. The tournament tested strategic thinking, patience, and decision-making, with:

Winner: Tanmoy Chakrabarty
Runner-up: Debankur Saha

The Carrom tournament was conducted as a doubles competition, with 9 teams participating. The tournament combined individual skill with partnership and coordination.

Winners: Avishek Majumdar & Sourav Das
Runners-up: Tanmoy Chakrabarty & Bobita Sarmah

While each tournament had its winners and runners-up, the larger success of the Krea Sports Tournament was the participation and spirit of the community. Faculty, staff, and PhD scholars came together across departments and roles, creating opportunities to meet colleagues in a completely different setting.

From the intensity of a Frisbee match and the quick exchanges of Table Tennis and Foosball to the strategic battles of Chess and the precision of Carrom, each sport brought its own character to the trimester.

The tournament series concluded with a prize distribution ceremony and dinner, bringing everyone together to celebrate the winners and, equally importantly, the participation and sporting spirit of the entire community. The first trimester of the Krea Sports Tournament has set the stage for more games, more participation, and more opportunities to play, compete, connect, and celebrate together.
