From 15 to 19 June 2026, Kaveri Bharath, Visiting Faculty, Global Arts, SIAS conducted a Glaze Chemistry Workshop at the Golden Bridge Pottery, (GBP), in Pondicherry for 15 participants – (7 of the students currently enrolled in GBP’s full time course, and 8 external participants who were practising ceramicists from across India).

This course involved theory sessions on the molecular make up, chemical reactions, and qualities of the materials that constitute a glaze, followed each day by lab sessions to test and fire combinations of materials using specific methods, to be able to eventually make their own glazes from scratch.
From 9 AM to 5 PM every day, with a short break for lunch, this was an intensive advanced course meant for those who had already used commercial glazes and were familiar with firing and pottery.
