Judith Grace Lazarus, Research Assistant, Lekhana Priya Gundapaneni, Teaching Fellow and Krea alum, along with Dr. Rakesh Sengupta, Assistant Professor, Psychology, SIAS have published a paper titled The Asymmetric Pull of Falsehood: A Computational Model of Temporal Narrative Drift in Echo Chambers in the Springer volume Frontiers in Advanced Computing and Emerging Intelligent Technologies (FaceIT 2026).
Why is a lie 2.4 times harder to correct than to spread?
In a major win for Krea’s interwoven approach to research, two of our students successfully built a mathematical ‘neural field’ model of online echo chambers. They proved computationally that once a false narrative takes root in a tight network, it takes 2.4 times more social pressure to restore the truth than it took to corrupt it in the first place.
