Home » A Talk on ‘Isaac Newton in the History of Science’ by Dr K P Yogendran
ABOUT THE TALK
In this talk, Dr K P Yogendran will present a way of evaluating the contribution of Isaac Newton to modern physics. In particular, he will try to argue that other scientists of the time were poised to discover many of the laws which are attributed to Newton. In the process, he will examine how scientific ideas evolve incrementally. This has implications for how we should evaluate success in science. This talk is mandatory for all scientific reasoning students in the first year to attend.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Dr K P Yogendran, currently appointed as assistant professor of physics in IISER Mohali is a string theorist who is also expanding his domain into modeling in condensed matter. Dr. Yogendran completed his PhD from TIFR, Mumbai, in 2004. After that, he did postdoctoral research in various esteemed places worldwide, including HRI, Allahabad, India, Sogang University, Center for Quantum Spacetime (CQUeST), Seoul, Korea, and Helsinki Institute of Physics, University of Helsinki, Finland.
