A Roundup: Global Arts at Krea

Professor Anil Srinivasan, Visiting Professor of Practice, Literature & the Arts, SIAS, Krea University and Dr Sumitra Ranganathan, Associate Professor of Music, SIAS, Krea University were on a panel at The Arts in Higher  Education – convened by the International Society for Music Education (ISME) at KM Music Conservatory and represented Krea University for the Global Arts. They were also part of a panel convened by the Parthasarathy Swamy Sabha – Chennai’s oldest music institution –  on Music in Education alongside leading classical music exponents. The events were held at the beginning of the year.

Professor Anil Srinivasan was also an invited keynote speaker at the recently concluded Liberal Arts and Sciences Symposium in Ooty – talking about our interwoven approach at Krea. All liberal universities of India were present. 

Dr Sumitra Ranganathan presented a 2-hour lecture demonstration in the monthly lecture series at Tyaga Brahma Gana Sabha, Chennai, titled “Gods in Place: pada as worship in Bettiah gharana Dhrupad”. The lecture curated archival materials from her extended fieldwork with the musicians of the Bettiah Dhrupad tradition, bringing together theoretical ideas on the entanglements of place, listening communities and aesthetics,  with approaches to archiving and engaging with the archive. The lec dem was held in March 2024.

Shweta Rani’s research paper has been selected for the Yale Modern South Asia Workshop (MSAW)

Khula Area: On the Urban and the Pathological authored by Shweta Rani, Faculty Teaching Associate, Krea-CWP (Centre for Writing & Pedagogy), has been selected for this year’s Yale Modern South Asia Workshop (MSAW). This international academic workshop occurs every year in different South Asian locations. It will be in Kathmandu this year on 27 and 28 May, 2024.

Sathyanarayanan Ramachandran Delivers a Talk on Marketing Success Case Studies in the Organic Products Industry

Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati, invited Sathyanarayanan Ramachandran, Sundram Fasteners Associate Professor, Marketing, IFMR GSB, Krea University to speak about the Marketing Success Case studies in the organic products industry during the national webinar on Marketing Dilemmas and Triumphs in the Organic Products Industry: A Few Indian Perspectives held on 27 April, 2024.

He shared critical insights on innovative marketing strategies and challenges like awareness and branding of certification, price-value conundrum, resource balancing, and perceptual issues.

The session focused on branding aspects concerning building trust with certifications, traceability, product range management, stories, influencers, and D2C e-commerce in creating awareness and preference based on the approaches of brands such as 24Mantra, Organic India, Conscious Food, Pure & Sure, Nature Bio Foods, and Mamaearth.

Dr Srajana Kaikini’s Work makes it to the Longlist of the second edition of the Oxford Bookstore Art Book Prize

The Night the Writing Fell Silent – Words by Dr Srajana Kaikini, Assistant Professor of Philosophy, SIAS, Krea University / Works by Jogen Chowdhury published by Priyasri Art Gallery (2023) has been longlisted by The Oxford Bookstore for their Art Book Prize 2024. Dr Alka Pande and HE Ms May-Elin Stener revealed thirteen titles recognised for their artistic quality and overall design. The jury for this prize includes May-Elin Stener, Priti Paul, Dr Alka Pande, Anjani Kumar Singh, and Sunaina Anand. The Art Book Prize aims to celebrate and support artists, designers, and publishers in India.

Sayantan Datta will Deliver a Talk at Jindal Global Law School

The Teaching to Empower workshop at the Jindal Global Law School, OP Jindal Global University, Sonipat, is being organised by the University’s Feminist Research Cluster to bring together scholars and educators to think about how feminist pedagogical principles can be applied in classrooms. Sayantan Datta, Assistant Professor of Practice, Krea-CWP (Centre for Writing and Pedagogy) is delivering an invited talk as a part of the theme Contextualizing Knowledge: Curriculum, Assessment, and Evaluation alongside Professor Ayesha Kidwai, Jawaharlal Nehru University on 11 May, 2024. Professor Niharika Banerjea and Professor Dolasree Mysoor from Jindal Global Law School are the moderator and discussant of the session.

Dr R S Sathya Saminadan Empowers Retired and Soon-to-Be-Retired Indian Army Officials with Business Management Strategies

Dr R S Sathya Saminadan, Associate Professor of Practice & Area Chair – Marketing, IFMR GSB, Krea University recently participated in a one-day workshop organized by NICM, a division of the National Council for Cooperative Training, and sponsored by the Ministry of Cooperation, Government of India. This workshop was specifically designed for retired and soon-to-be-retired Indian Army officials.

The Government of India, recognising the importance of equipping soon-to-be-retired army officials with skills in business management, organised this initiative. Dr Saminadan had the privilege of conducting a session on SEO and SEM strategies tailored for business entrepreneurship during the workshop.

From the transport-related symbols like cars and buses on the EVMs to the actual transport of the EVMs and other materials to the country’s remote corners, multimodal logistics play a critical role in the festival of democracy.
