About the Series
This lecture series at Krea University, proposed by Professor Nirmala Rao, Vice Chancellor, Krea University addresses current issues in world politics to promote local, national, and global engagement among the student body. Upcoming lecture themes include international humanitarian law, water and environmental security, challenges of climate change, war and forced migration, refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs), and the future of global governance. The lectures will be delivered by a diverse range of academics and practitioners, offering Krea students an invaluable opportunity to connect their academic studies to real-world issues and engage with leading experts. The series will be convened by Sherman Teichman, Emeritus Founding Director of The Institute for Global Leadership at Tufts University (1984-2016).

About the Talk
The first lecture of the Distinguished Lecture Series will examine Russia’s role in global politics and security from a strategic perspective. With specific emphasis on the war in Ukraine, the lecture will also look at Russia’s objectives, capabilities, and challenges in its interactions with NATO, its emerging international relations, regional influence, and relationships with other major powers, such as the United States, China and India.

About the Speaker
Steedman Hinckley, Senior Analyst (Retd.) with the US Central Intelligence Agency worked for over 30 years on Russian affairs and US-Russian relations across the Departments of State and Defense, the White House, and the intelligence community. He served in multiple assignments in Russia for the Department of State. He holds a BA in Russian and Soviet Studies from Wesleyan University and an MA in Policy Analysis from the Pardee RAND Graduate School.
