Philosophical inquiries often begin in moments of wonder, doubt, reflection, and curiosity. Philosophical training sharpens our critical thinking ability, power of imagination, and our capacity for innovation. Learning the process of conducting meta-inquiry along with a concrete engagement with real-world issues makes philosophy students reflective and innovative learners.
The Philosophy Minor programme at Krea University is committed to exploring specific philosophical traditions and their practices. Tracing the historical trajectories of the development of philosophical ideas is a cornerstone of this Minor programme. It will signpost philosophical thinking both as a scholarship-based discipline and as a practice-based discipline. Most of the pressing questions of the 21st Century including questions of social categories, technology & progress, human condition & its ethical quandaries, and the future of ‘us’, demand a renewed attention from the discipline of philosophy. Keeping this in mind, the Philosophy programme at Krea will incorporate theorisation, practices, immersion and application as its pedagogical pillars. Students of Philosophy Minor will not just be potential scholars in the disciplines of philosophy, but more importantly, be philosophically motivated learners and problem solvers.
The programme will effectively aid students to pursue their individual intellectual and creative interests with philosophical rigour by involving them with philosophical concepts collectively, writing & reflecting on philosophical questions and situating their ideas within the history of philosophy. Philosophical training will prepare them to conduct their own interdisciplinary enquiries with conceptual clarity such that they are able to absorb and question meaningfully the given premises of any discipline of their pursuit.
Students are required to take courses in the following four streams – Philosophical Methods, Philosophical Concepts, Philosophical Practices and Philosophy & Society. The courses offered in these streams will train students to approach relevant philosophical issues systematically, critically and creatively. While these courses presuppose an openness to philosophical traditions from across the Globe, their main focal-points will center around references from Euro-American and South Asian traditions. IIn addition to these required courses which do not have any prerequisites, Philosophy Minor students must take four topically specific electives of their choice.
The Philosophy Minor at Krea University equips students with strong analytical abilities, identifying and understanding presuppositions, conceptual clarity, and the capacity to think critically about complex questions. While grounded in both Euro-American and South Asian traditions, the programme tries to encourage thinking from the perspective of global philosophies, and introduces students to the historical development of philosophical ideas while encouraging them to engage deeply with contemporary issues of ethics, technology, society, and the human condition.
Through coursework in philosophical methods, concepts, practices, and philosophy’s relationship to society, students learn to approach problems systematically and creatively. They also develop reflective writing and discussion skills that support independent inquiry across disciplines. Ultimately, the Philosophy Minor nurtures thoughtful, philosophically motivated learners who can apply rigorous reasoning and imaginative thinking to the challenges of the 21st century.

At Krea, Interwoven Learning wasn't just a concept — it shaped the way I thought and worked.
I learned to connect ideas across computer science, design, and business, and to approach problems with both creativity and structure. That mindset came alive during my internship with the IT team at Krea, where I had the chance to design real systems, build applications, and see my work make a difference on campus. More than skills, it gave me confidence — a belief that I could step into ambiguity, listen, experiment, and find a way forward.”
My internship with Karta was an incredibly enriching experience. I had the opportunity to design Economics and History modules for Class 12 (CBSE)
which gave me valuable insight into curriculum development and content structuring. Alongside this, I taught prerequisite subjects — Mathematics, Statistics, and Economics—to first-year undergraduate Economics students from across India, which strengthened my teaching and communication skills. I also worked on data analysis projects, allowing me to apply my academic learning in a practical context. Overall, the experience not only deepened my subject knowledge but also helped me grow as an educator and researcher."
“broadened my understanding of different philosophical ideas while allowing me to have my own critique, thoughts, and opinions in a welcoming way.”
