Home » Attosecond Physics – there’s plenty of “time” at the bottom!
ABOUT THE TALK
A month from now, the next Nobel Prize in Physics will be announced, heralding a new set of breakthroughs within this beautiful discipline of natural science. As we await this moment, it is time to once again reflect on the current Nobel Prize in Physics, which celebrates the creation and impact of attosecond light pulses. These ultrashort events, born from a serendipitous observation of laser radiation harmonics in a Paris laboratory, have opened doors to incredible opportunities in science and, potentially, in current and future technologies.
In this talk, aimed at an audience of curious students, we will explore what attosecond pulses are, why they are so exciting, and the new horizons they are helping us to investigate. Perhaps, this might convince you that there’s as much time at the bottom as there is room.
