Abhayraj Naik is a coach, consultant, educator, nonprofit leader, researcher, and social enterprise entrepreneur with over 18 years of cumulative experience (including professional practice contexts of activism, advisory, consultancy, nonprofit leadership, research, and teaching) relating to citizen and community empowerment, educational planning and learning design, ecology and environmental philosophy, environmental and climate justice, human rights, legal studies, monitoring and evaluation, movement building, participatory methods/ processes, policy advocacy, strategy and planning, theory of change and visioning, systems transitions, and urban governance.
He has been a Visiting Faculty at several Bengaluru-based learning institutions (Azim Premji University, National Law School of India University, St Joseph’s College of Law, the Minnesota Studies in International Development India programme and the International Honours Programme that were both hosted by the Environment Support Group, etc), and previously served as a full-time Assistant Professor at Azim Premji University (2012-2015) and the Jindal Global Law School at OP Jindal Global University (2009-2012). He currently serves (in a part-time capacity) as the Coordinator of Strategy, Research, and Learning at a nonprofit called Pipal Tree that focuses on sustainable development in a changing climate context. He is also the co-founder of a nonprofit organisation called the Initiative for Climate Action, which develops a wide range of programmes and projects in the climate action space in India and internationally, as well as the vision-holder for an unregistered initiative in Bengaluru called the Centre for Spiritual Ecology, which promotes spiritual ecological consciousness and practice. He is a graduate of the National Law School of India University and Yale Law School. He is a member of the Global Alliance for Justice Education (GAJE).
