Dr Kishore Gaurav has a PhD and an MPhil from the Centre for French and Francophone Studies in JNU, New Delhi. His research has focussed on the francophone novel from the French and Créole-speaking regions of Africa. He has attempted to explore, among other themes, the specificities of the literary idioms of writers of French and English expression from the global South. He has published translations from French to Hindi, French to English and English to Hindi. These include his translations of parts of Garcin de Tassy’s annual lectures on literary developments in Hindi-Urdu in the second half of the 19th century: Hindustani Bhasha aur Sahitya 1850-1860 (Vaani, New Delhi) and Literatures of Hindoustan 1850-1860 (Sampark, Kolkata). He has also translated Sebastien Ortiz’s novel Taleb and Jean-Claude Perrier’s travelogue Dans les Comptoirs de l’Inde from French to English.
