Yashvi Sharma

Overview

Yashvi Sharma is pursuing Bsc (Hons) at Krea University in Biological Sciences. She has a strong academic background with a CGPA of 9.06/10, and has earned a minor in Psychology. During summer break, she interned at Allianz Biosciences, a pharmaceutical company making Probiotics and Prebiotics, gaining hands-on experience in microbial techniques and Equipment/Packaging usage in the Laboratory and Production. She engaged with safety, hygiene, and traceability protocols, from handling raw materials to end products in various departments, including quality checks and research & development.

She has also interned at the Centre for Wildlife Studies and carried out a literature survey on Langurs and basic mapping of those areas they are found in, along with identifying gaps in this kind of research. Further, she undertook a research opportunity under the guidance of Professor Guha Dharmarajan, collating current information available and writing up results of analyses representing the landscape factors affecting Trypanosoma cruzi infection risk in Virginia opossums (Didelphis virginiana), emphasising ecological drivers and public health implications.

Moreover, she has a growing interest in the electrophysiology of fungi, which she undertook as a topic in her independent study. She will take it forward in her capstone project, reviewing potential applications in mycelial-based products and further exploring how it can influence innovative designs and functionalities in sustainable materials. This aligns with her goal of utilising research on living systems to advancements in both ecological sustainability and health-centred solutions.

She's open to exploring roles that focus on research, biomimicry and bioremediation as well as opportunities in business development that leverage scientific innovation for market solutions oriented toward conscious living.

Internship(Duration)

Allianz Biosciences (Probiotics & Prebiotics)
Internship at a pharmaceutical company
June ’24

● Gained hands-on experience in microbial techniques & Equipment/Packaging usage in the Laboratory and Production. Engaged
with safety, hygiene, and traceability protocols, from handling raw material to end product in various departments, including
quality checks and research & development

Our Relationship with Food
Statistics Group Project
October ’23 – January ’24

● Collected individual data points for three weeks and analysed them using various statistical methods and concepts to showcase
data in the form of visual and tactile representation and convey patterns in the data

Eco-Reshuffling
Presentation and Discussion
August ’23 – September ’23

● Through comprehensive secondary data research, she elucidated the unintended consequences of translocation in wildlife
conservation, focusing mainly on ‘Project Cheetah’— the first ever transcontinental wild-wild translocation

Centre For Wildlife Studies
Langur Literature Review Internship
April ’23 – July’23

● Placed as an intern to compile all the knowledge we currently possess about Langurs through a literature survey and basic
mapping, along with identifying gaps in this kind of research (considering Langurs are one of the least understood groups of
primates in the world. In India, we are yet to understand their distribution, taxonomy and behaviour)

Accessibility of Mental Health Facilities in India
Group Report in Design Thinking (core-course)
December ’22 - January ’23
● Based on the collection and analysis of secondary data available in journal articles, govt. publications etc., we
established the nature of the problem in the initial stages
● Collected primary data through an online survey, which was condensed into statistical charts along with qualitative data to
to contextualise the responses received
