Dr Vasupradha Srikrishna is an interdisciplinary researcher and educator. In her previous role, she taught at the School of Innovation and Management, Hyderabad. She also served as the Head of the Department of Communication and Associate Director of the Centre for Teaching & Learning at Madras Christian College, Chennai, from 2019 to 2023.
Dr Srikrishna established Research Culture™ (researchculture.co), a research start-up that provides solutions to both industry and academia. Her research interests include the philosophy of communication, communication theory, journalism, organisational communication, digital humanities, ethnography, intersubjectivity, and critical theory. She was a visiting scholar at the University of Westminster in London in 2012 and was awarded the Mrs Lalita Sadasivam Excellence Award for an Outstanding Professor of Madras Christian College (2019-2020). In 2021, she received an early career award that facilitates women faculty move forward and was named a Kopenhaver Fellow.
She has been granted an ICSSR Major Project, titled Unveiling the Cultural Tapestry of the Beda Nayaka Tribe: A Deep Dive into Deities, Rituals, and Communication (Karnataka, India), where she serves as the second Principal Investigator. The project is under the Studies on the Culture, History, and Geography of the Scheduled Tribes of India under ICSSR Research Projects (ICSSR – The Indian Council of Social Science Research is the national body overseeing research in the social sciences in India).
Dr Srikrishna completed her doctoral programme at the Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad, India (MICA) in 2015. Her work emphasises the merit and need to incorporate an interdisciplinary framework in research. Her current research revolves around understanding the digital stronghold and transformation of the human persona. She is also an independent consultant to corporates, teaches at various institutions, and is active in mentoring early researchers, faculty, peers, and students.
She has been instrumental in creating an active research culture within educational institutions and promoting effective decision-making through applied research in organisations via her consulting platform. She is a sought-after resource person for pedagogical, research and publishing, media, journalism, and communication workshops, as well as for faculty development programmes, seminars, conferences, and capacity-building efforts.
