A practitioner of performance and process management, Professor Suresh Venkatraman brings extensive firsthand experience in establishing new facilities, running delivery organisations, and implementing methodologies such as 5S, Kanban, BSC, CMMI, ISO 9000, TOC, TQM and TS 16949.
As a doctoral scholar from IIM Bangalore, for his doctoral dissertation on the Adoption of ISO 9000 he was awarded with the Citibank Award for Excellence in Research. With over 20 years of industry expertise spanning Business Planning, Operations, Projects, PMO, SBU leadership and Supply Chain management in sectors including Auto, BPO, Construction, Engineering, and FMCG, Professor Venkatraman has primarily worked with top business groups of South India such as Murugappa, TVS and Rane. His stint at Rane NSK provided exposure to Japanese Management practices. He has been trained by NSK at their plant in Thailand.
At IFMR GSB, Professor Venkatraman has taught Probability & Statistics, Operations Research, Supply Chain Management, and Contemporary Practices in Operations for PGDM students. Additionally, he has taught courses on Lean Management and Business Modelling for VIT BS at both the Vellore and Chennai campuses.
Since 2014, Professor Venkatraman has been a full-time faculty member at IFMR GSB, teaching core courses in Quantitative Sciences, Operations Management, and elective courses in Business Process Management. He has developed an elective course titled Operations & Technology focusing on the insurance sector. His research and consultancy interests are in the areas of Process Migration, Process Performance and Productivity.
