Dr Akanksha Adya is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Krea University, India. Her doctoral research examined how first-time mothers construct meaning of their infant feeding practices in relation to global expert knowledge sources. Dr Adya is the first recipient of the Researchers in the Global South Grant Award from the Society for Psychological Society for Social Issues, American Psychological Association (Division 9). Her doctoral dissertation received grant support from the Taraknath Das Foundation, Columbia University, USA.
Drawing upon cultural, feminist, and critical approaches, her research and teaching aims to center the lived experiences of Indian women to decolonize psychology. She loves teaching and has taught Psychology in the United States and India. At Krea, she has designed and taught an elective course, Motherhood, Family, Childcare in India.
