Pratyay Nath is Associate Professor of History, Ashoka University. He is a historian of early modern South Asia, with a focus on the Mughal Empire. His research lies at the crossroads of environmental history, military history, imperial history, animal history, and the history of kingship. He is the author of Climate of Conquest: War, Environment, and Empire in Mughal North India (Oxford University Press, 2019). He also writes regularly in the vernacular. The first two of his six-parts monograph series in Bangla on war, culture, and society in world history, titled যুদ্ধ এবং [War and], is forthcoming in 2026 from Pratikshan Publications, Kolkata.
