Prior to joining Krea University, Dr Shilpi Singh has worked as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science, Lady Shri Ram College for Women, University of Delhi. She has 5.6 years of experience in teaching. She completed her PhD from the Centre for Political Studies, School of Social Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. She was a Visiting Scholar at the South Asia Institute, School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London. For her PhD thesis she studied contemporary weddings as a site of consumption standing at the crossroads of culture and economy of particular classes in urban society. Her curiosity to understand urban processes because of capital flows pushes her to critically explore the question of labour and subjectivities in a neoliberal urban milieu. It is a mix of theoretical and ethnographic work, which have been rather new to the discipline.
