The MSc in Clinical Psychology is a rigorous two-year postgraduate programme that combines academic depth with intensive clinical training. Rooted in Krea University’s philosophy of Interwoven Learning, it integrates theory, research, and supervised clinical practice into a coherent and demanding curriculum. Students receive advanced training in psychological theory, clinical assessment, and case formulation. The programme foregrounds working with communities as a model of practice, training students to engage with institutions, local networks, and public systems in ways that extend clinical knowledge beyond the consulting room and into sustainable, community-based mental health initiatives.
The curriculum spans major therapeutic traditions, including psychoanalytic, systemic, cognitive-behavioural, and humanistic-existential approaches, enabling conceptual flexibility and methodological competence. Delivered by clinician-scholars, the programme emphasises rigorous engagement with evidence and ethics. It places structured emphasis on the self-development of a reflexive practitioner, recognising that clinical competence requires sustained self-inquiry, ethical awareness, and the capacity to critically examine one’s own assumptions, responses, and positionality within therapeutic work.
Situated within the realities of South Asia, the MSc programme addresses India’s mental health gap through a structured integration of education and training, service and intervention, and public engagement. Graduates emerge with strong academic foundations, clinical competence, and the intellectual independence required for professional practice, research, and leadership in mental health settings. Although the MSc in Clinical Psychology is not an RCI-licensure degree, it provides a strong foundation for students aspiring to pursue licensure pathways and develops the ability to conduct research relevant to mental health in South Asia, contributing to meaningful practice and policy insights.
What distinguishes the MSc in Clinical Psychology at Krea University is its focus on building clinical capacity that is viable in diverse settings. A central strength of the programme is that it bridges three domains often taught separately: clinical assessment; counselling and psychotherapy; and structured self-reflective work. Students are trained to deliver evidence-based interventions that are adaptable, scalable, and feasible within public health systems, NGOs, schools, universities, and hospitals.
The programme recognises that India’s mental health challenge is not only clinical but infrastructural: there are too few trained professionals, uneven service distribution, and limited institutional capacity outside metropolitan centres. By integrating supervised practice, interdisciplinary coursework, and applied research, the MSc programme prepares graduates to contribute meaningfully to the mental health gap identified by Krea University. Its distinctive strength lies in developing practitioners who can maintain clinical standards while working effectively within diverse institutional contexts across India and South Asia.
