Enhancing livelihood opportunities with digital solutions for SHGs in Chhattisgarh

In Chhattisgarh, IWWAGE is partnering with the State Rural Livelihoods Mission (SRLM) and Haqdarshak Empowerment Solutions Private Limited (HESPL) to train SHG members on a digital application, which can enhance their livelihood opportunities. In addition to collaborating on the implementation of this livelihood model, LEAD and IWWAGE are also conducting an impact and process evaluation of the Haqdarshak programme, which will answer questions on its effectiveness and efficacy. Talerang, a well-established education management company that began as an independent project at the Harvard Business School, has stepped into a significant partnership in the field of career services. The collaboration offers Krea’s undergraduate students the opportunity to learn and prepare for their journey after graduation. Talerang has conducted innumerable career development and training programs, impacting 2 million students in the last five years. The Krea-Talerang partnership is designed in such a way that it benefits students who wish to study further as well as students who are interested in joining the workforce or exploring entrepreneurship after completing their undergraduate programme at Krea.

Catalyst AIC now has a full-functional, state-of-the-art incubation infrastructure in Jaipur, spreading across 11,000 sq.ft. The space has been designed keeping in mind the kind of vibrant and bustling environment that technology entrepreneurs need, backed by high-end facilities for the team as well as the incubated startup teams. Launched recently, Catalyst AIC has already entered into significant partnerships with various organisations including Jaipur Rugs, Social Alpha, LEAD at Krea, RAIN, Sirohi, TiE, Upaya Social Ventures, Creative Dignity, among others.

In conversation with Dr Sunder Ramaswamy (Vice-Chancellor, Krea University) and Dr Madhuri Saripalle (Associate Professor of Economics at IFMR GSB, Krea University), Dr Sarangi shared his writing experience, elaborated on why he chose pop-culture and examples with an Indian context to present some deep concepts, in addition to explaining his fascination for human behaviour and its relationship with Economics. Krea Community Night had everybody in the Krea family – right from the leaders, faculty, to students and staff – signing-in together for an evening of fun, laughter, and camaraderie. The evening included a surprise musical performance by professors and Krea staff, followed by informal Q/A sessions with Vice-Chancellor of Krea University, Dr Sunder Ramaswamy; Dean of IFMR GSB, Dr Shobha Das; and Dean of SIAS, Prof Bishnu Mohapatra. Overall, the evening largely focused on sharing talents, anecdotes and getting to know each other with music and entertainment added to the mix.

The chat explored strategies for addressing restrictive social norms that influence women’s participation in aspirations for entrepreneurship, improving skilling programs, and building business acumen, enabling meaningful access to technology and markets. The School of Informatics and Computing at IUPUI (Indiana University Purdue University Indiana) is one of Indiana, USA’s premier, high-ranked urban public research universities and Computer Science institutes, known for its numerous educational opportunities and innovative information system designs. As part of the ongoing partnership between IUPUI and Krea University, students of SIAS participated in an information session led by the following senior faculty members at IUPUI: Mathew Palakal, Senior Executive Associate Dean and Professor of Informatics; Josette Jones, Director of Health Informatics and Associate Professor; Saptarshi Purkayastha, Director of Undergraduate Education and Research – Department of BioHealth Informatics and Assistant Professor of Data Science, Health Informatics; and Sarath Chandra Janga, Associate Professor of Bioinformatics, Data Science, Interim Chair – Department of BioHealth Informatics, and Interim Program Director of Bioinformatics and Biomedical Informatics Program. The faculty members shared salient features of the two disciplines – Health Informatics and Bioinformatics, its applications in the real world, teaching of the subject at IUPUI and the many benefits of partnering with Krea.

IFMR GSB’s student-led marketing committee launches ‘Prayatna’

Markaholic, IFMR GSB’s student-led marketing committee, along with the Graduate School of Business’ notable alumni, recently launched an informative marketing workshop series titled ‘Prayatna’. The committee’s first workshop featured Amandeep Singh Kochar – Business Director at VMLY&R, New Delhi and an alumnus of IFMR GSB. Having worked with well-known brands such as TCS, Fresh Marketing Idea, BrandAppZ.com, KRDS, and Brandmovers, Amandeep shared his own experience and ideas on marketing, business development, creative strategies, and more in his session – ‘Succeeding in the World of Direct to Consumer (DTC)’.

Moving forward, the committee plans to host a marketing workshop every fortnight for a couple of hours, in a bid to inform students about all the trending marketing job roles in the industry, spread awareness about all the necessary skills required to excel in the field, engage in discussion through various practical demonstrations and activities, and, ultimately, build a strong student alumni network.
