| Krea University has stepped into a significant partnership with the University of Bristol, consistently ranked in the world’s top 100 and UK’s top ten universities. The partnership will explore deeper collaboration in the area of Sciences and Humanities at student, faculty and research level. It also includes the beginning of a 3+1 progression partnership for students at Krea, in flagship programmes offered by University of Bristol which includes MSc in Environmental Policy and Management, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Public Policy, Economics, Economics and Finance, Economics, Finance and Management, Management (International Business) and Business Analytics. The University of Bristol is home to the best university business incubator in the world and is in the top 5 for research. The University is also alma mater to 13 Nobel Laureates including current Chancellor, Sir Paul Nurse. The MoU was inked in an e-signing ceremony chaired by Dr Erik Lithander, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Global Engagement), University of Bristol and Dr Sunder Ramaswamy, Vice-Chancellor of Krea University. During the ceremony, Dr Erik Lithander added, “We are very proud to be signing a Memorandum of Understanding with Krea University today and are excited to develop links with such an innovative, forward-thinking institution. It symbolises the start of an important partnership, which will undoubtedly benefit the student and academic communities on both sides.” The event included a dialogue on potential collaborations, respective aims of both institutions for the partnership and identification of ways in which links could be strengthened. The event had distinguished attendees from both partner institutions. Krea announces recipients of Faculty Research Fellowship
In a bid to encourage and support young faculty, staff and students, the management at Krea is delighted to introduce a Research Fellowship for the academic year of 2020-2021. These fellowships are available on a competitive basis across SIAS and IFMR GSB for anyone at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, Senior Assistant Professor and Senior / Assistant / Associate Professor of Practice, staff, and students. Rethinking & reimagining the future of work in management consulting
Vikram Janakiraman, who has been a part of Boston Consulting Group for nearly 10 years, shared powerful insights from his vast journey as a senior practitioner in the management consulting field. From explaining in detail about how management consulting businesses keep up with the times to addressing all the strategic challenges faced by businesses of today, Vikram Janakiraman – Managing Director and Partner at Boston Consulting Group (India) – engaged the students at Krea in a hearty interaction. Given his experience working with automotive and mobility clients in India, he narrated his experience on how one can not only address a problem but also re-think solutions and re-imagine the manner in which they deliver them, while also sharing what the future holds.
An engaging session on ‘Open Banking’
In a highly engaging session, Aumkar Gholap – Head of Technology Solutions for Credit Risk, Treasury (ALM), Liquidity Management and Regulatory Reporting India – interacted with the students at IFMR GSB, Krea University, shedding light on various aspects of ‘Open Banking’. Drawing from his rich experience in the financial sector, he explained how the integration of banking processes and technology have helped secure data. He also his shared insights on the use of open APIs that enable third-party developers to build applications around financial institutions and what it takes to create a long-term sustainable model for the service industry.
IUPUI – Krea partnership: Deep-diving into Health Informatics & Bioinformatics
The School of Informatics and Computing at IUPUI (Indiana University Purdue University Indiana) is one of Indiana, USA’s premier, high-ranked urban public research universities and Computer Science institutes, known for its numerous educational opportunities and innovative information system designs. As part of the ongoing partnership between IUPUI and Krea University, students of SIAS participated in an information session led by the following senior faculty members at IUPUI: Mathew Palakal, Senior Executive Associate Dean and Professor of Informatics; Josette Jones, Director of Health Informatics and Associate Professor; Saptarshi Purkayastha, Director of Undergraduate Education and Research – Department of BioHealth Informatics and Assistant Professor of Data Science, Health Informatics; and Sarath Chandra Janga, Associate Professor of Bioinformatics, Data Science, Interim Chair – Department of BioHealth Informatics, and Interim Program Director of Bioinformatics and Biomedical Informatics Program. The faculty members shared salient features of the two disciplines – Health Informatics and Bioinformatics, its applications in the real world, teaching of the subject at IUPUI and the many benefits of partnering with Krea.

Krea University begins search for next Vice-Chancellor
IFMR GSB’s student-led marketing committee launches ‘Prayatna’
Markaholic, IFMR GSB’s student-led marketing committee, along with the Graduate School of Business’ notable alumni, recently launched an informative marketing workshop series titled ‘Prayatna’. The committee’s first workshop featured Amandeep Singh Kochar – Business Director at VMLY&R, New Delhi and an alumnus of IFMR GSB. Having worked with well-known brands such as TCS, Fresh Marketing Idea, BrandAppZ.com, KRDS, and Brandmovers, Amandeep shared his own experience and ideas on marketing, business development, creative strategies, and more in his session – ‘Succeeding in the World of Direct to Consumer (DTC)’.
Moving forward, the committee plans to host a marketing workshop every fortnight for a couple of hours, in a bid to inform students about all the trending marketing job roles in the industry, spread awareness about all the necessary skills required to excel in the field, engage in discussion through various practical demonstrations and activities, and, ultimately, build a strong student alumni network.
IFMR GSB’s Analytics Club holds its first event of the year
IFMR Graduate School of Business (GSB) has always fostered an engaging learning environment not only through academics but also through the University’s several student-led committees and clubs. In the first of many, the Analytics Club at GSB conducted its first-ever event of the year – ‘The Commencement’. The Analytics Club advocates itself as a platform to help students learn more about data tools and techniques in the business world. The event, with around 40 students in attendance, included multiple quiz rounds and a few creative, number-crunching activities. The scoring of the event depended on the number of likes and votes each team earned via social media. Two teams – InPrecision and Byte-Bits – were declared the winners owing to their high cumulative scores. Moving forward, the club aims to further its mission of using data as a storytelling tool through several such events.
Business impact of AI & IoT
As part of the industry engagement series, we hosted Shalini Kapoor, Chief Technology Officer at IBM AI Applications and the first Indian woman Fellow at IBM India. Through a well laid out presentation, she talked about the adoption of AI. She articulated through real-life examples that AI is for all and not just for data scientists.
