Mugdha’s research interests are Environmental Economics, Public Health, Health Economics, and Public Finance. Prior to joining the PhD programme at IFMR GSB, she completed her Masters of Philosophy (MPhil) from Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai, in 2021. She has worked on the Impact of the Finance Commission Recommendation on Public Health Expenditures in Maharashtra. The study focused on the district level and analysed the presence of inequities in the distribution of public healthcare facilities across the levels of care. She has also explored the areas of Global Poverty and Health and Nation, State, and Inclusive Governance, focusing on the issues faced by ethnic groups across the countries.
Earlier, she was associated with the Society for Education, Action, and Research in Community Health (SEARCH), Gadchiroli, as a student fellow from 2021-2022.

An ardent believer in expressing thoughts and love for languages, Mugdha relishes poetry compositions and loves engaging herself in theatre. Apart from her academic life, she enjoys listening to Indian classical music and loves socialising. She loves to explore different places, cultures and heritage associated with those places.
