An alumnus of IFMR, Chennai, Chandrasekaran has a PhD in Economics and Financial Management from University of Madras. He is also a certified Supply Chain Management Professional of APICS – American Association of Operations Management, USA. Chandrasekaran has been part of a leadership team setting up Centres of Excellence in Logistics and Supply Chain Management.
Backed by over twenty-five years of experience with corporates, Chandrasekaran has worked in Information Technology, Venture Capital, and Knowledge Processing sectors. Strategy, Mergers and Acquisitions, Human Resources, Leadership Development and Investor Relationship management are his areas of expertise. His consulting, research, corporate training and teaching experience extends across Supply Chain Management, Operations Strategy, Logistics Infrastructure and Management, Service Operations, Strategy and Analytics.
Chandrasekaran is also an independent director, mentor and management consultant with several leading companies and start-ups. He also serves as a research guide to scholars pursuing PhD degree in management in the area of Strategy and Supply Chain Management.

Ashutosh has been involved in multiple research organisations in the fields of Development Economics, Environmental Economics and Fiscal Deficit of Union Government of India. Before joining the Ph.D. programme at IFMR-GSB, he worked in Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research Project at Nalanda University, from 2019 to 2020. Prior to that he was working as Research Associate at Indian School of Business, Hyderabad in 2018. He also got exposed to fiscal research frontiers at Reserve Bank of India in Mumbai during 2017 to 2018.
During his Masters in Economics and Mathematics, he also taught students at undergraduate level in the Engineering, Mathematics and Economics stream. His teaching subjects were Intermediate Microeconomics, Introductory Probability and Statistics, and Mathematics for Engineers.
His current area of research includes financial inclusion, household responses to macroeconomic shocks in health seeking behavior, unintended educational consequences of female security in public spaces, among others.

Undertook impact assessment of water recharge interventions at household level in the farming community in rural Bihar. Identified the coping mechanism adapted by farmers to fight the negative impact of climate change on agriculture productivity.
Under the supervision of Dr. Omesh Kini
Identified the key characteristics of business correspondents in paperless banking that promoted financial inclusion for relatively unbanked regions in south India. Established that Aadhaar enabled paperless banking enabled banking transactions which are comparable to traditional physical banking platforms.
Proposed a Granger causal model to estimate the long and short run impact of rise in fiscal deficit on growth in Gross Domestic Product in India.

On the same lines, he engages himself in poetry compositions that reflects his views of the world around, familial mazes, and vision of an equitable future. He loves to remain abreast with meaningful cinema around the globe. When away from his academic work and cinema, he enjoys playing badminton and having walk in serene morning.
