Dr Shouvik Bhattacharyya has completed his PhD in Decision Sciences (Operations Research) from the Indian Institute of Management Lucknow (IIM Lucknow). His doctoral research focused on the hybrid truck-drone vehicle routing problem in last-mile delivery. The central theme of his thesis was to examine the trade-off between delivery time and sustainability, with the aim of optimising both objectives within a bi-objective mathematical modeling framework. His broader research interests lie in combinatorial optimisation, particularly in problems such as the Traveling Salesman Problem (TSP), vehicle routing problems (VRP), and the integration of machine learning techniques within metaheuristic frameworks. He is also deeply interested in emerging areas of intelligent logistics and sustainable operations. His research has been presented at leading academic conferences, including EURO and major national forums. Before beginning his doctoral studies, Shouvik worked as an Area Service Manager at Blue Star Limited. He holds a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from Jadavpur University, Kolkata.
