Dr Swayam Sampurna Panigrahi specialises in Sustainable Supply Chain Management, for which she earned her PhD from XIMB, XIM University, Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Her research interests include supply chain sustainability, business and human rights, e-waste management, industry 4.0 and operations, among others.

Prior to joining IFMR, she gained experience at prestigious institutions such as the Institute of Public Enterprise, Hyderabad, International Management Institute, Bhubaneswar, and WoU, Telangana. Throughout her career, she has been recognised multiple times for her scholarly contributions. Notably, she received two Best Paper awards: one at the WIPRO-XUB Sustainability Summit in 2016 and another at the 105th Indian Economic Association Annual International Conference in 2022. Additionally, she was honored with the prestigious MSME Fellowship from NIMSME, Hyderabad, under the Ministry of MSME, Government of India. Furthermore, she received two consecutive Emerald Literati awards from the Emerald Publishing House, Bingley, UK. She is an Associate Member of the Business and Human Rights Forum at Columbia University and holds certification as a Pro-Associate-Level ESG Professional.

In addition to her PhD, Dr Panigrahi holds an MTech degree in Production Engineering from Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology, Burla, where she was recognised as the University’s Best Post Graduate in the Department of Production Engineering. During her MTech, she was awarded the Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP) scholarship by the Government of India. She also holds a BTech degree in Mechanical Engineering from Biju Patnaik University of Technology, Rourkela.

Dr Swayam Sampura Panigrahi has also been awarded the Fulbright-Nehru Postdoctoral Research Fellowship to undertake 24 months of research in public policy at the University of Connecticut.
