Sathyanarayanan, widely known as Sathya Ram, is an award-winning marketing academic, case writer, executive educator, consultant, and institution-builder with over twenty-six years of experience spanning academia, industry, and international projects. His professional work integrates marketing strategy, brand management, integrated marketing communications, cross-cultural marketing, case-based teaching, executive education, and industry engagement.
He has worked with institutions and organisations such as BIM, CII, CBS, and European Union-funded international projects, including the Economic Cross-Cultural Programme. As a teacher and mentor, he is deeply committed to helping students discover their strengths, develop managerial judgement, and pursue excellence with confidence.
Before joining IFMR Graduate School of Business, Krea University, Sathya Ram worked with the Confederation of Indian Industry as Head of Education Initiatives. In this role, he was actively involved in establishing the Education Practice in the southern region to strengthen industry-institute engagement. He also spearheaded the Industry Bridge initiative with IIT Madras and contributed to the conceptual foundation of a government-backed incubator in Chennai.
Sathya Ram has extensive experience in teaching postgraduate-level marketing courses and in delivering executive education through management development programmes, corporate training, consulting assignments, and industry-facing learning interventions. His work has taken him across India and abroad, including Finland, Singapore, and Sri Lanka.
He has trained executives from leading organisations across sectors, including Toshiba, L&T, FLEX, CEAT Sri Lanka, Escorts, GATI, BHEL, Sutherland, Indian Railways, India Post, and LIC. He also ran an independent consulting practice under the brand Purple Ring.
As an invited expert, Sathya Ram serves as a sounding board in the strategy and marketing meetings of several companies and undertakes consulting assignments. His interests include marketing strategy, brand management, integrated marketing communications, cross-cultural marketing, sustainable marketing, business strategy, and case-based pedagogy.
He is an invited member of the CII Southern Region Core Group on Higher Education Policy and a member of the Expert Committee of the Indo-Japan Chamber of Commerce.
Sathya Ram regularly writes and blogs on marketing, business, and management issues. He has also contributed popular articles to reputed newspapers, including The Hindu Business Line.
