After completing his B.Pharmacy, Dr Debajit Maiti joined Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd., where he worked for nine years. During that period, he pursued an MBA at IISWBM, Kolkata. Then he completed an M.Tech in Pharmaceutical Technology at the Department of Chemical Technology, University of Calcutta, India. During this time, Dr Maiti had the opportunity to work in the Organic and Medicinal Chemistry Laboratory under Dr. Sanjay Dutta, Scientist at CSIR-IICB, Kolkata.
Subsequently, he joined Prof. Subhabrata Sen’s laboratory in the Department of Chemistry at Shiv Nadar IoE (Deemed to be University) to conduct his Ph.D. research on light- and electricity- driven sustainable organic synthesis method development. During his Ph.D. journey, he developed a strong interest in creating new methods and tools for organic electrosynthesis.
One of their research works on electrosynthesis from Shiv Nadar IoE Deemed to be University was recognized with the RSC Horizon Perkin Prize 2025 in Organic Chemistry, where we introduced a new tool called Alternate Electrode Electrolysis (AEE) to perform electrosynthesis more efficiently.
After completing his Ph.D., Dr Maiti continued as a postdoctoral researcher in the same laboratory for one year. Following that, he joined Prof. Isaac Choi’s laboratory at Chungbuk National University, South Korea, as a G-LAMP Postdoctoral Research Fellow to carry out his second postdoctoral research on electrosynthesis, prior to joining Krea University.
During his Ph.D. and postdoctoral research, Dr Maiti contributed to several peer-reviewed international publications and applied for a patent grant for their electro-photochemical reactor device. At present, his research interests focus on electro-organic synthesis and electro-photo-organic synthesis.
