About the Talk:
A worldview is generally understood as a belief system that shapes one’s perceptions, attitudes, values and actions. Much of it is acquired through socialisation and experiences of individuals and groups. The realm of public policy must be based on evidence collated from large data sets about various socio-economic, cultural and political parameters. This presentation will discuss various large-scale secondary data sources periodically published by various governments and other organisations. It will examine the advantages and limitations of the data sets and seek their potential in informing public policies.
