Prof. Sathyanarayanan has twenty years of industry and academic experience, having worked in Organizations like BIM, CII, CBS and also in European Union’s Global projects like Economic Cross-Cultural Programme (ECCP). Prof. Sathyanarayanan Considers himself a motivator and enjoys the role of being a catalyst to vibrant, young minds and motivating them towards excellence in their areas of strength. Before joining IFMR GSB, Prof. Sathyanarayanan worked with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) as the Head of Education Initiatives and was actively involved in setting up an Education Practice in the southern region to promote enhanced industry-institute interaction and also spearheaded the Industry Bridge project with IIT Madras. He was also involved in the conceptual foundation for a government-backed Incubator in Chennai. Prof. Sathyanarayanan has extensive experience in PG-level teaching in Marketing courses and in corporate training through MDPs and consulting assignments in India and abroad – especially Finland, Singapore, and Sri Lanka. He has trained executives from various companies like Toshiba, L&T, FLEX, CEAT Sri Lanka, Escorts, GATI, BHEL, Sutherland, Indian Railways, India Post, LIC etc. He was also running a consulting practice under the brand Purple Ring. Prof. Sathyanarayanan is an invited Member of the CII Southern Region Core Group on higher education policy and a member of the Expert Committee of Indo-Japan Chamber of Commerce. Prof. Sathyanarayanan is also a Gold medalist in marketing and a University Grants Commission NET-JRF holder. A winner in London Business School’s Case development Initiative in 2009. Prof. Sathyanarayanan was instrumental in winning three awards for the Graduate school of Business. Gold Award for the case study on IFMR’s research eco-system in the 7th Indian Management Conclave (IMC) held at IIM Ahmedabad ASSOCHAM’s Award for Best Institute Serving Social Cause – CSR MMA award for Managerial Excellence in the Education Institutions category. He is also a recipient of Dewang Mehta Award for Best Teacher in Marketing and the Impact Best Professor award. Prof Sathyanarayanan is one of the Top-6 Global finalists in the “Case for Women – Case study Writing Competition” organized by Forté Foundation, Case For Women and Emerald Publishing (2021). His case study on “Happy Self Publishing” has been accepted for publication in “Emerald-The Case for Women Collection”. Sathya regularly blogs on marketing and other business issues.
