Programme overview

The Finance Minor at Krea University is designed for students from diverse disciplinary backgrounds within the School of Interwoven Arts and Sciences (SIAS). It complements majors in the humanities, social sciences, sciences, and technology by equipping students with the ability to interpret financial information, evaluate trade-offs, and make informed decisions in both professional and civic contexts.

The minor has two core objectives. First, it builds awareness of the pervasive role of finance in contemporary society and its influence on economic, social, and institutional outcomes. Second, it prepares students for professional opportunities that require financial competence by introducing the principles, tools, and institutional contexts that shape financial decision-making in organisations and markets. In doing so, the programme develops financial literacy alongside analytical judgement and ethical reasoning essential for navigating modern economic and business environments.

What makes

Finance at Krea unique

Grounded in real-world applications, the curriculum emphasises how financial concepts operate within firms, financial markets, public institutions, and households. Students are introduced to foundational areas such as financial statements, time value of money, risk and return, capital markets, corporate finance, and personal finance, while also engaging with broader concerns related to governance, sustainability, and social responsibility.

Courses are led by faculty from the IFMR Graduate School of Business (GSB), who bring extensive experience in finance and management, as well as by SIAS faculty, who contribute an interdisciplinary perspective. Together, this draws on a strong legacy of teaching, research, and industry engagement in management and finance. This integration ensures that students benefit from both academic rigour and real-world relevance.
