OBHR division offers core management subjects in the first year – Managing Individuals and Teams, Leading Organizations and People Management. The division also offers a wide variety of electives in the second year ranging from People Management in M&A, Cross-Cultural Management, HR Analytics to name a few. The faculty members are actively engaged in executive education, consulting and research and involve students specialising in the area with ample opportunities to work on live projects in Sri City and in other organizations. Alumni with HR major /minor are in core HR roles in manufacturing, IT and banking sectors.

Prof Vijayalakshmi’s teaching career has been enriched by her research expertise and interest in organizational transformations in public sector organizations and her corporate experience in senior management positions and as a consultant. An expert in Organizational Behaviour and a Fellow from MDI, Gurgaon, she has a Master’s degree in Agriculture with specialization in Plant Breeding and Agriculture and a PG Diploma in Rural Management from IRMA.
Prof Vijayalakshmi’s research and consulting interests include design and delivery of indigenous psychometric tests in vernacular languages, competency mapping and assessment processes, utilization of existing psychometrics for HR processes, Evaluation of HR processes of both for profit and development sector organizations.
Prof Vijayalakshmi has conducted several workshops in Qualitative research and trained hundreds of executives in interpersonal skills and team work. She has also facilitated workshops using modified T-lab for students titled Journey to Self for understanding one’s behaviour and the impact on others. Her research methods expertise is in the area of Qualitative research methods including ethnography and participatory appraisals, and she has conducted large scale surveys using quantitative methodologies. Prof Vijayalakshmi was part of a DFID funded project on Market-linked rural development approaches. Her current engagement includes working with not-for-profit organizations for enhancing sustainable livelihoods among farm families using technological approaches and Farmer Producer organizations.
Also a member of the Ethics Committee of the Banyan Academy of Leadership in Mental Health, Prof Vijayalakshmi lends support to high quality research in the area of mental health and homelessness.
Associate Professor, OB & HR
Prof Nagarani handles Organizational Behaviour, Communication, Learning & Development, Human Resource Management and Cross Cultural Management courses at IFMR GSB. Her research interests are in the areas of Women in Management and Cross Cultural Management.
A post-graduate in English literature from Ethiraj College, Chennai and an MBA from Bharatidasan Institute of Management, Trichy, Prof Nagarani comes with about 33 years of teaching, training and consultancy experience. She started her teaching career in School of Management, Central University, Pondicherry in 1986 and headed the student initiatives for the entire university, before moving on to Bharathidasan Institute of Management in 1990. Prof Nagarani headed the Human resources from 1990 to 2000 at BIM and spearheaded the placements. She was selected by the US Government to represent India in their Young Leaders Program in 1996.
From 2000 to 2007, she was responsible for the Human resources area and placements at IFMR, before moving back to BIM Trichy to head Human Resources and the MDP Areas.
Prof Nagarani has designed and conducted more than 300 Management Development Programmes for organizations like WHO, JIPMER, BHEL, CTS, ABN AMRO, Education Department – Govt. of India, NLC, TNPL, TAFE etc.
An expert in Human Resource Management and Organizational Behaviour, Prof Raghu has an MBA and PhD from OUBS, UK. He also has a Master’s degree in Natural Resources and Forestry Management from IIFM, Bhopal. He was with Worldwide Fund for Nature and Harrisons Malayalam Ltd., before joining IFMR GSB in 1995.
Prof Raghu currently handles MBA and PhD level courses on People and Organizations. He also conceives and anchors multiple Management Development Programmes (MDPs) for Senior and Middle Managers from organizations like Kobelco, L&T, Toshiba, Murugappa Group companies and Real Image Technologies. He has also been a Principal Investigator for various sponsored research projects of international and national agencies such as DFID, UK; IDRC, Canada, USAID and NABARD. He has published articles, case studies and technical reports in international journals and business newspapers.
Dr. Pallavi Pandey worked with the Indian Institute of Management, Jammu (IIMJ), IMI Bhubaneswar, and O P Jindal University. She has completed her Ph.D. in Management from the Indian Institute of Technology, Dhanbad (IIT-ISM Dhanbad). Her research currently spans contemporary human resource practices, workplace discrimination, and employees’ happiness and well-being at work. She has authored cases in the Richard Ivey Publishing and South Asian Journal of Business Management. She has also served as the Chairperson Anandam- The Center for happiness at IIM Jammu. Her other areas of contribution include conducting Management and Faculty Development Programs as the program director and resource person.
Dr. Pallavi Pandey is an active sportsperson. She represented IIT (ISM)-Dhanbad in various athletic events during her Ph.D. days. She won badminton matches at the university level during her tenure as the Assistant Professor. She actively contributes to social causes. Pallavi was appointed as the Gender Champion for IIT-ISM (Dhanbad) by the Ministry of Human Resource Development; she was also associated with Karma Jyoti (Center for Societal Mission).
