Dr Sairam Moturi, Assistant Professor, Finance, Accounting, and Quantitative Finance, IFMR GSB, conducted a workshop on Financing Startups using LEGO blocks as part of a Faculty Development Program. Sponsored by the Ministry of Education Innovation Cell and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the program was held at IISER-Tirupati on 27 March 2025. Faculty members from universities and colleges across Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu attended the workshop.
Under the guidance of Nagarani M, Associate Professor, OB & HR and Head of Placements, IFMR GSB, Professor Srinivasan Kalyanasundaram, Professor of Practice, Finance, IFMR GSB and Suresh Kurukkath, Senior Manager, Placements, IFMR GSB represented Krea University at the UK-India Skills Mission Meeting. The event, coordinated by the IT-ITeS Sector Skills Council of NASSCOM, was hosted at the British High Commission on 21 March 2025 in Chennai.
The gathering brought together leading Chartered Institutes and Certificate Awarding Institutions from the UK, fostering discussions on collaboration opportunities to enhance industry-relevant skills among students. These engagements pave the way for international partnerships, internships, and certifications, further enriching students’ career trajectories.
Sathyanarayanan R, Sundram Fasteners Associate Professor, Marketing, IFMR GSB has authored an article titled The digital-physical nexus: How brands are blending real and virtual worlds in the second edition of the State of the Brands 2025 global report. His invited article explores how brands create hybrid experiences that merge the physical and digital, from virtual shopping to immersive brand storytelling.
A case titled Mayflower Restaurants: Effective Service Delivery and Customer Engagement, co-authored by Professor Chandrasekaran N, Professor, Operations and Strategy, Area Chair – Strategic Management, and Chairperson – Executive MBA Programme, IFMR GSB, and Nagarani M, Associate Professor, OB & HR, IFMR GSB, has been published on the Ivey Case website.
Professor Srinivasan Kalyanasundaram, Professor of Practice, Finance, IFMR GSB, has successfully completed the Fundamentals of Case Teaching course by Harvard Business Publishing.
A group of students from the MBA cohort of 2024-26, IFMR GSB is undertaking a Live Project on pairs trading strategies, a technique widely used by hedge funds. They are exploring various approaches, including statistical, technical, and fundamental analysis. This Live Project is being offered by Paterson Securities Pvt Ltd under the mentorship of Balachandran Venkataraman, a Student Mentor specialising in Derivatives, Risk Management, and Analytics, as well as a Business and Management Consultant.
With a track record of mentoring over 1,000 MBA students, Balachandran has consistently nurtured industry-ready professionals. Through this project, students are applying theoretical concepts to develop and backtest practical strategies.Impressively, their performance in technical analysis has earned them another Live Project on derivatives and market risk management, starting in mid-April.
The participating students are Ritam Sen, Swastik Rao, Viraj Patil, Prathamesh Tavhare, Rishi Raj, Kumar Eklavya, Sanchay Nagar, Kunal Sen, and Harsh Vardhan Mishra.
Dr Swayam Sampurna Panigrahi, Assistant Professor, Operations and Area Chair – Operations, IFMR GSB, delivered a guest lecture on Supply Chain Sustainability on 13 March 2025 in a research seminar on ‘Sustainable Manufacturing and Operations: Bridging Academic Insights and Industry Practices,’ organised by the Department of Operations Management, Tshwane University of Technology, Pretoria, South Africa. The lecture was delivered online.
IFMR GSB faculty members, Professor Srinivasan Kalyanasundaram, Professor of Practice, Professor Balasubramanian G, Senior Professor and Advisor, Finance, Accounting and Quantitative Finance and Professor Jayaram Ramakrishnan, Professor of Practice, Finance have authored an article on, Navigating Digital Transformation in BFSI Organisations. The same has been published in the 25 March issue of The Management Accountant, the prestigious official magazine of The Institute of Cost Accountants of India. Dr Jyoti Kumari, Assistant Professor, Finance, Accounting and Quantitative Finance, IFMR GSB has been awarded the ICSSR Project Grant under the Major Research Projects Grant for 2024-25. The recommended title of the research project is, ‘The Role of Alternative Data in Expanding the Credit Access: A Study of Fintech Innovations in India.’
Ananya Manikandan, an MBA student at IFMR GSB secured the Runner-up position in Vitarka, held as part of Fiesta’25 by FMS Delhi. The competition featured two rounds: Article Writing, where Ananya demonstrated analytical and articulation skills through thought-provoking articles, and Extempore, where she engaged in spontaneous speaking on contemporary societal issues.
As a part of the prize, Ananya has been awarded an internship opportunity with Mobile Creches, a non-profit organization dedicated to early childhood care, education, nutrition, and healthcare for children of migrant and construction workers
