Programme overview

The Undergraduate Major in Business Studies and Finance provides students with a rigorous and integrated foundation in business management and financial decision-making within a dynamic global environment. The programme combines core business disciplines—such as strategy, marketing, operations, and organisational behaviour—with strong analytical and quantitative training in finance, including accounting, corporate finance, financial markets, and investment analysis.

Grounded in an interdisciplinary liberal arts framework, the major emphasises critical thinking, ethical reasoning, data-driven analysis, and real-world problem solving. Students engage with contemporary economic, social, technological, and regulatory challenges that shape business and financial systems, enabling them to understand organisations not only as economic entities but also as social and institutional actors embedded in broader societal contexts.

Learning in the programme is reinforced through a combination of classroom instruction, case-based pedagogy, applied projects, and experiential opportunities such as internships, entrepreneurial initiatives, or capstone work. These experiences are designed to help students translate theoretical knowledge into practical insights and professional skills.

What makes

Business Studies and Finance at Krea Unique

A distinctive feature of the major is the Entrepreneurship Track, open to students across the School of Interwoven Arts and Sciences (SIAS). The track introduces the fundamentals of entrepreneurship and innovation, while providing mentoring and access to financial and institutional resources to support the design, launch, and growth of entrepreneurial projects.

Courses are led by faculty from the IFMR Graduate School of Business (GSB), who bring extensive experience in finance and management, as well as by SIAS faculty, who contribute an interdisciplinary perspective. Together, this draws on a strong legacy of teaching, research, and industry engagement in management and finance. This integration ensures that students benefit from both academic rigour and real-world relevance.
