Life, undoubtedly, is uncertain; but when we experience this uncertainty in our everyday affairs, we end up suffering from a ‘novel’ phobia — ‘Covid phobia’. 

Prof Soumyajit Bhar, Visiting Assistant Professor of Environmental Studies (full-time), and Prof Kalpita Bhar Paul, Assistant Professor of Philosophy, have together authored an important article on rediscovering the human touch amidst a global pandemic. The article elaborates on the importance of collaboration during such an emergent crisis, and how we, as a society, need to find a way to tackle our fears.

Conference paper authored by IFMR GSB PhD scholar and faculty wins ‘Best Doctoral Paper Award’!

Congratulations to IFMR GSB’s PhD Scholar Ameesh Samalopanan and Prof Vijayalakshmi Balasubramaniam for their papers winning big at two different conferences!

Their conference paper “Defining Dignity at Workplace: A Step Closer Towards Responsible Management”, won this year’s Eastern Academy of Management Conference (EAM) ‘Best Doctoral Paper’ award. The EAM conference was hosted virtually last week.

In addition to this, their second paper – ‘How Indian Managers Define Dignity at Workplace: Exploratory Study on Indian Financial Sector’ – will be presented at the upcoming European Academy of Management Conference (EURAM 2021) next month.

Prajanya Trust features Dr Anannya Dasgupta’s poems on human rights

As part of the Prajanya Trust’s ‘16 Days Campaign against Gender Violence’, poems by Dr Anannya Dasgupta – Associate Professor of Literature, Literature & the Arts and Director of Centre for Writing & Pedagogy at SIAS, Krea University – were featured on the occasion of Human Rights Day. The campaign aims to showcase women poets read poems from their work that draw on or speak broadly to the “four good words” in the preamble to the constitution: Justice, Equality, Liberty and Fraternity. From shedding light on late Rohit Vemula to highlighting the politics behind the Kathua Rape Case, watch the reading of Dr Dasgupta’s moving poems here.

IFMR GSB faculty member — Sumit Mishra, Assistant Professor, Economics and Data Science has published another impactful research paper. His paper “Diversity Deficit and Scale-Flip” co-authored with Naveen Bharathi (Harvard University), Deepak Malghan (IIM – Bangalore), and Andaleeb Rahman (Cornell University published in the Journal of Development Studies, using data from more than half a million villages in India, shows that greater caste-diversity is associated with better public goods access in rural India.
