IFMR GSB has been nurturing marketing talent ever since its inception. It has deep-rooted connections with the industry, with long standing association with industry stalwarts. The marketing faculty team is a blend of rich industry experience and strong academic credentials. It is due to this, that the foundational courses of first year are followed by the entire spectrum of marketing electives in the second year. As a testimony of this commitment to the marketing area, GSB has initiated an annual marketing conference – where leading CXOs and Head of Marketing Division from the industry are invited to talk on important and critical issues – to provide vital guidance to the students specializing in marketing.

Prof Bhatla has more than 30 years of experience in education, marketing and P&L at Fortune 500 companies, management consulting and international development. He has managed key growth markets at the LTV Corporation, the Progressive Corporation, the Auto Club Group and Farmers Insurance Group.

He has also taught graduate and undergraduate courses at The Ohio State University, Case Western Reserve University and IFMR.

Prof Bhatla’s topics of interest are online education, management communication, critical analytic thinking, lean startup, monetization of business models, customer acquisition, decision analysis and decision quality, digital fluency and personal branding.

Sathyanarayanan R

Sathyanarayanan has twenty years of industry and academic experience, having worked in Organizations like BIM, CII, CBS and also in European Union’s Global projects like Economic Cross-Cultural Programme (ECCP). Sathya Considers himself a motivator and enjoys the role of being a catalyst to vibrant, young minds and motivating them towards excellence in their areas of strength.

Before joining IFMR GSB, Sathya served as the Head of Education Initiatives in the Confederation of Indian Industry and was actively involved in setting up an Education Practice within CII to promote enhanced industry-institute interaction. He was also involved in the conceptual foundation for a government-backed Incubator in Chennai. Sathya has extensive experience in PG-level teaching in Marketing courses and in corporate training through MDPs and consulting assignments in India and abroad – especially Finland, Singapore, and Sri Lanka. He has trained executives from various companies like Toshiba, L&T, FLEX, CEAT, Escorts, GATI, BHEL, Sutherland, Indian Railways, India Post, LIC etc. He was also running a consulting practice under the brand Purple Ring.

Sunanda Sangwan

Professor of Marketing at IFMR-GSB since August 2019, Dr. Sunanda Sangwan’s research focus is on consumer behavior in the area of marketing and technology interface. She has taught Marketing-related courses at various degree level programs, and Research Methods and Academic Writing for doctoral and MS by research programs.

Dr. Sangwan has published in well-known Journals like Data Base for Advances in Information Systems, Journal of Advances in Consumer Research, China Communications, European Management Journal, and Intl. Journal of Consumer Studies. She has presented her research in international conferences like INFORMS Marketing Science, ACR (American Chapter), IEEE chapters etc.

Dr. Sunanda Sangwan was previously with Shantou University, Guangdong, China (2012-18), Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (2001-2010), Copenhagen Business School, Denmark (1998-2000), and Aston University in Birmingham, UK (1994-1998).

She has served as Academic Coordinator of a Doctoral Program (NTU), Academic Coordinator for Global Executive MBA Program (CBS) and Vice Dean during her stint at Jindal Global Business School (2010-12). She was part of a global consortium team of nine major American and European b-schools that started an international EMBA program at Copenhagen Business School in Denmark.

Dr. Sangwan has also been a short-term visiting professor at Delft University of Technology in The Netherlands, Baltic Management Institute in Lithuania, and Trier University, Germany among others. She is trained in Case Study Method from Richard Ivey School of Business and has consulted through Executive and MBA level training and courses in many B-Schools in Western Europe, Baltic States, UK, Scandinavia, East Asia, India and China.

Sunanda obtained her MS degree from ISS, Erasmus University, and PhD from Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University, The Netherlands.

Sathya Saminadan R S

Dr Sathya after Completing MBA from IFMR, have 19 rich years of Work experience of which 10 years he was in the Industry and 9 years in Academia. Initial career started with a Pharmaceutical Company as Sales representative. Later moved to aviation industry and later into banking sector.

Had a vibrant career growth, starting as a Sales Executive to Assistant Vice President. Served and been a part of every marketing department which included Sales, Training, Digital Marketing and Product strategy. Was heading the branches in bank, lead a holistic team of managers who were responsible for revenue and broadening market.

During 2010 moved to Great Lakes Institute of Management as lecturer for marketing as move towards the passion of becoming a teacher.

Dr Sathya, Completed his PhD in Digital Marketing in alliance with search and purchase behaviour of the consumer from the University, SCSVMV – Kanchipuram.

He is associated with than a dozen colleges in Chennai and outer as a visiting prof. and to name a few, IIT- Madras, LIBA and SRM.

He was awarded as the best teacher for the year 2016 by International Business Conference committee, Goa for the contribution towards teaching and research in the area of Marketing.

Been a committee chair in many occasions for to manage an event, conference, department and institution building exercises.

Amar Saxena

A senior analytics professional with strong, multi-faceted experience, Prof Amar Saxena has consulted and worked with leading banks and financial institutions – partnering in designing effective analytic solutions. He brings a unique blend of strong technical skills with excellent leadership abilities. A hands-on leader with an analytical edge, Prof Saxena was earlier head, Global Accounts Analytics at TCS eServe.

Prof Amar Saxena is an MBA from IIFM, Bhopal and a Fellow from IIM Ahmedabad. He has proven experience in setting up strong offshore analytic teams – completely integrated with host organizations, across the entire spectrum of functions such as developing new business, creating new capabilities for showcasing to clients, designing efficient analytic solutions, transitioning & redesigning processes and managing strong delivery teams. These teams have been across all the analytic functions – from Risk Management, Customer & Marketing Analytics to Fraud Analytics.

He has around 20 years of experience in Industry which includes ADP India, RBS Business Services, TCS etc.
