Paula Mariwala
Paula Mariwala is a pioneering early-stage investor and technology entrepreneur who has been shaping India’s startup ecosystem since 2006. A physicist by training, she dons many hats: technologist, businesswoman, investor, mentor and philanthropist.
She is the Founding Partner of Aureolis Ventures, investing in innovative, impact-driven companies across technology, climate, health, and consumer sectors. She is also the Founder-President of Stanford Angels & Entrepreneurs India and was the founding MD of Seedfund Advisors, one of India’s first early-stage venture funds. She previously led technology companies in India and the US and continues to serve as Promoter Director of the Hinditron Group of Companies.
Before becoming an investor, Paula led technology companies in India and the United States for over a decade. She continues to serve as Promoter Director of the Hinditron Group of Companies, a global technology enterprise.
Over the past 20 years, Paula has made more than 75 early-stage investments across India, Singapore, and the United States. Her portfolio includes companies such as Pixxel, Digital Paani, Unbox Robotics, Brainsight, Bold Care and Frontier Markets—reflecting her passion for deep tech, climate innovation, consumer brands, health tech, and inclusive growth. Beyond capital, she is an active mentor to founders and aspiring entrepreneurs.
Her commitment extends beyond venture investing into education, science, and social impact. She serves on the boards and advisory councils of institutions including Krea University, Somaiya College of Engineering, FITT (IIT Delhi), BIRAC, IMC, and CII. Internationally, she advises Stanford’s Center for Human Rights and Stanford SEED, and serves on philanthropic boards such as Team4Tech, The Gender Lab, and Katalyst India and supports many initiatives around climate, arts and entrepreneurship.
Paula is widely recognised as one of India’s leading women venture capitalists and angel investors. She has been featured by many publications, regularly appears on podcasts and has spoken at premier institutions and conferences globally.
Paula holds a Master’s degree in Applied Physics from Stanford University and a BSc (Honours) in Physics from St Xavier’s College, Mumbai. Based in Mumbai, she balances her professional commitments with her love for painting, poetry, trekking, nature, and community engagement.
