LEAD at Krea partners with 3ie for Swashakt evidence programme
| Low female labour force participation rate remains a pressing concern in India, with less than 30 percent of women in rural areas engaged in productive work, paid or unpaid. Under the Swashakt evidence programme, the International Initiative for Impact Evaluation (3ie) is funding the implementation of a series of projects that support collectives and group-based models for women-led businesses, including non-farm and service enterprises that are operating in partnership with state rural livelihood missions. LEAD at Krea University has been chosen as the grants management partner for the evidence programme. Ramkumar Ramamoorthy, Former Chairman and MD of Cognizant (India), to join Krea University as Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Professional Learning
Ramkumar Ramamoorthy, former Chairman and Managing Director of Cognizant (India), will join the leadership team of Krea University in January 2021 as its first Pro Vice-Chancellor, responsible for Professional Learning.
As part of its 2025 vision, the University has created a blueprint to take its interwoven learning experience to the industry and larger society to address the agile and continuous learning needs of professionals. In this role as Pro Vice-Chancellor of Professional Learning, Ramkumar will help drive the mission and long-term strategy of all professional programs—spanning Masters in Business Administration, executive education, as well as modularized and laddered advanced programs and micro-credentials that will add significant value to individuals, businesses, nations and society.
In addition to this role, as a part of the core leadership team, Ramkumar will help strengthen Krea’s vision to be a teaching and research university that defines global benchmarks through interwoven-ness and experiential learning, while staying true to its core values of excellence, ethics, inclusivity and accountability.

Profile of Ramkumar Ramamoorthy
Ramkumar has about 30 years of experience in the information technology industry as well as academia. He was most recently the Chairman and Managing Director of Cognizant in India—a Fortune 200 company—and was responsible for the company’s India operations with over 200,000 employees.
During his 22 years with Cognizant, he nurtured and grew more than half a dozen portfolios and held various leadership positions including Executive Director, India and Chief Knowledge Officer. Prior to Cognizant, Ramkumar was with Tata Consultancy Services.
Ramkumar spent the first five years of his professional career as an academician and continued to stay in touch with academia throughout his long career in the industry. In the past three decades, he has been on the Academic Council and/or Senate of liberal arts, engineering, management and medical universities in India. He is currently on the Governing Council of the IT/BPM Skill Sector Council of National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM) and the Board for undergraduate studies in engineering and technology at All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). He is also associated with the Chennai Mathematical Institute, one of the premier institutions of excellence for teaching and research in math, computer science and data science.
Ramkumar has played leadership roles in several professional and trade bodies in India. Notably, he is the immediate Past President of the 185-year-old Madras Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) and a past Vice Chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM) in India.
‘Building a successful career’ with Naveen Chandramohan
In an insightful interaction with the students of IFMR Graduate School of Business, Krea University, Naveen Chandramohan- CEO & Founder of Itus Capital & Co-founder of Fintuple Technologies, shared his perspectives on building one’s career and the innovative ways to go about it. Highlighting the key aspects of an effective leader, Mr Chandramohan shared a few stories from his life and stressed on living every day as though it were your last. A seasoned practitioner, he encouraged students to strive to do better and communicate well – relevant to both the professional and personal aspects of life.
Celebrating the Krea spirit
Krea Community Night had everybody in the Krea family – right from the leaders, faculty, to students and staff – signing-in together for an evening of fun, laughter, and camaraderie. The evening included a surprise musical performance by professors and Krea staff, followed by informal Q/A sessions with Vice-Chancellor of Krea University, Dr Sunder Ramaswamy; Dean of IFMR GSB, Dr Shobha Das; and Dean of SIAS, Prof Bishnu Mohapatra. Overall, the evening largely focused on sharing talents, anecdotes and getting to know each other with music and entertainment added to the mix.

On the occasion of Women’s Entrepreneurship Day (November 19), LEAD at Krea University and IWWAGE hosted a Twitter chat to explore strategies for enhancing women’s participation in entrepreneurial activity and strengthening enterprise resilience. The chat explored strategies for addressing restrictive social norms that influence women’s participation in aspirations for entrepreneurship, improving skilling programs, and building business acumen, enabling meaningful access to technology and markets. Krea University inks partnership with University of Bristol – one of the world’s top ranked institutions
| Krea University has stepped into a significant partnership with the University of Bristol, consistently ranked in the world’s top 100 and UK’s top ten universities. The partnership will explore deeper collaboration in the area of Sciences and Humanities at student, faculty and research level. It also includes the beginning of a 3+1 progression partnership for students at Krea, in flagship programmes offered by University of Bristol which includes MSc in Environmental Policy and Management, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Public Policy, Economics, Economics and Finance, Economics, Finance and Management, Management (International Business) and Business Analytics. The University of Bristol is home to the best university business incubator in the world and is in the top 5 for research. The University is also alma mater to 13 Nobel Laureates including current Chancellor, Sir Paul Nurse. The MoU was inked in an e-signing ceremony chaired by Dr Erik Lithander, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Global Engagement), University of Bristol and Dr Sunder Ramaswamy, Vice-Chancellor of Krea University. During the ceremony, Dr Erik Lithander added, “We are very proud to be signing a Memorandum of Understanding with Krea University today and are excited to develop links with such an innovative, forward-thinking institution. Krea University Early Action application round for UG admissions closes on 20 November 2020
Krea University opened its Early Action round to Undergraduate admissions on 19 October 2020 and this round closes on 20 November 2020. The Early Action Round is the shortest application window in the admissions cycle, and offers significant benefits to applicants who like to plan early.
Applying in the Early Action round provides multiple benefits to the aspirants. These include receiving a decision on the application by the end of the year, much before the board exams. It also is highly recommended for applicants seeking Financial Assistance, as this round puts them in a better position to avail aid.
Speaking about the benefits of this round, Director-Admissions, Padmini Sankaran shares, “The Early Action Round has been designed to help aspirants gain a head start with applications. It provides them with ample exam-free time to focus on their Krea application form and its requirements which gives them an opportunity to showcase their potential beyond academic achievements. The round ensures that they have the advantage of choice without being pushed against deadlines.’’
SIAS offers three-year BA (Honours) and BSc (Honours) degrees, with an option to do an additional year of Advanced Studies. IUPUI – Krea partnership: Deep-diving into Health Informatics & Bioinformatics
The School of Informatics and Computing at IUPUI (Indiana University Purdue University Indiana) is one of Indiana, USA’s premier, high-ranked urban public research universities and Computer Science institutes, known for its numerous educational opportunities and innovative information system designs. As part of the ongoing partnership between IUPUI and Krea University, students of SIAS participated in an information session led by the following senior faculty members at IUPUI: Mathew Palakal, Senior Executive Associate Dean and Professor of Informatics; Josette Jones, Director of Health Informatics and Associate Professor; Saptarshi Purkayastha, Director of Undergraduate Education and Research – Department of BioHealth Informatics and Assistant Professor of Data Science, Health Informatics; and Sarath Chandra Janga, Associate Professor of Bioinformatics, Data Science, Interim Chair – Department of BioHealth Informatics, and Interim Program Director of Bioinformatics and Biomedical Informatics Program. The faculty members shared salient features of the two disciplines – Health Informatics and Bioinformatics, its applications in the real world, teaching of the subject at IUPUI and the many benefits of partnering with Krea.
